I loaded up my project in RC1 and removed the old ReferenceResolution components and replaced them with CanvasScalers. Set them up, hit Play, and the editor crashed.

Tried again and again and again, even on different scenes, and the editor always crashes on Play.

Wow. Even on a completely new and empty scene the editor crashes in play mode. Well, that's borked.

Reimport sprites. Type "t:sprite" in the search field, select all of them and reimport.

Edit: assuming you're using sprite packer.

when you say "reimport" what do you mean? how do you reimport? I get no options in the inspector when searching this way and selecting a sprite.

Search for assets in the project view, "t:sprite" searches for all sprites. Then select all the sprites, right click and and choose reimport.
