Hey everyone, my name is Andrew and I am about to start working on a website for people of all ages to learn how to develop iOS games like the mainstream ones, opening up possibilities for people to develop any iOS game they wish. My final goal is to have a website with either in-depth text tutorials or long video tutorials. I created this poll to see which way the general audience learns best.

    Website Details:
The website would have multiple tutorial series which include: Introduction to unity iOS development, a series which i remake popular mainstream iOS games, a series which i create a game as asked by the community, and hopefully more to come. I plan to release this website in early 2016 where the website will constantly be updated. It is also worth mentioning that it will be one-hundred percent free with a few advertisements for some revenue. If the video tutorial method is preferred, then all the videos will be available through Youtube, but preferably mostly watched through the website where all the source code is.

    Thanks for your votes,
    -Andrew

I'd say "both", though I personally wouldn't use videos if they could be avoided. (I'm not your target market either way, though.)

I think I'm one of the few who prefer text tutorials. I generally don't want to sit through an entire session to watch and follow along. I like to scroll through at my own speed, skip past the things I already know, and get straight to the part I'm trying to figure out or are having issues with.

Definetly provide both. Also be aware you are moving into a fairly saturated market.

I'm well aware that it's a saturated market but there aren't many websites who focus on iOS, and i will have a wide variety of series which haven't been done before. Thanks for the vote though.

Also going for "both". Sometimes you want to read a text on your own speed and sometimes you want to get something explained while you can see it.

If you have the bandwidth to produce both, I guess that's an obvious choice. Just like in game development, though, the reason why most games don't include EVERYTHING is because of the investment required to do so. For that reason, and because of the time involved in creating good videos, my thinking is that it'd be easier to start off with some really good text-based tuts. Add a video here and there for the really complicated stuff that might warrant a visual accompaniment, and go from there.

So far I'm leaning towards focusing on text-based tutorials and doing some video-based tutorials here and there. Thanks for all the responses and keep em coming :)
