Over the past year, our team has been committed to re-engineering the Plastic SCM GUI into a single codebase, leveling all operating systems at once to provide a consistent experience for all our Windows, Mac, and Linux users. Alongside this initiative, we are also launching Unity DevOps, a product that replaces and incorporates Plastic SCM as the Version Control component in a suite of services focused on augmenting teams productivity.

With this launch, both new and existing customers who upgrade their desktop app will experience the new brand. This milestone represents the first step in many more improvements that will be brought to our app experience. Moreover, some features have already been added and improved as a part of this release.

Here is a list of some of the Unity Version Control functionality you can start using now:

Switch between Light and Dark Themes
Whether for accessibility reasons or a visual preference, you can now choose between 'Light' and 'Dark' themes. You can quickly access these two options by clicking on the 'preferences' settings and choosing the 'themes' option.

    Stay up-to-date with new releases
Always stay up-to-date with the latest news and improvements brought to the client using auto-update. You can access this feature directly from the preferences menu. You will receive a small notification when a new version is available.

View file history in a new improved layout
The new history view introduces a new layout with simplified navigation allowing you to browse versions of a file easily and compare them side-by-side. To open this view, simply select a file, press the right mouse button to access the contextual menu, and select History, or press Ctrl/Cmd + Y.

Seamlessly navigate between accounts and repositories
You can now quickly switch between accounts, organizations, repositories, and workspaces. Just click on the house icon to add accounts or switch to another account, or switch between organizations of the same account.

Within each organization, you can manage your repositories as well as create, edit, and remove workspaces. You can even browse your repositories before creating your workspace.

Solve merge conflicts faster with Semantic merge
Now Semantic Merge is supported on all platforms. It can make multiple merge scenarios easy. Developers working in parallel on the same codebase will automatically benefit from the new merging capabilities when a conflict happens, enabling a much faster resolution.

    How to Access
The new Unity Version Control client app is now available to download to all users. You can visit our webpage and download the latest version right now. If you are not a customer or want to start using Unity DevOps for free you can subscribe here.
