I am getting a completely unusable frame rate in the editor. Even when not in play mode I am getting 200+ms frame times. If I click on something in the inspector it takes a second or two to actual show up. When in play mode I am getting 2-3 FPS and 400+ms frame times.

It's not a processing power issue. I'm seeing CPU usage around 20% and GPU usage of 0-1%. Checking the clocks on the 3090 I'm using shows that its not even firing up the GPU at all when I hit play.

It's also not my game. Loading up a new empty project and a new scene with a single sprite still chugs along at <30 FPS.

This is only happening on one computer. Using another (less powerful) computer I get a full 100+fps.

I have tried to reinstall my graphics drivers. I have tried a different GPU. I have tried integrated graphics instead of a GPU. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Unity Hub and all Unity installs and tried Unity 2021.2.5, 2021.2.6, and 2021.2.7. I don't know what else to try to get it back to working on this computer.

On this computer, when you run other intensive 3D applications (like games), how is it performing?

Everything BUT Unity runs perfect. 100+ fps on Halo Infinite yesterday. It is such an odd thing to see happen on just one program that had previously run fine on the computer.

I get this too. I think it is the new editor update.
Compiles fine and runs if you build pipeline it

I have the same issue, it was until 2020.3.25 kinda playable when the scene view was closed, but now even with the scene view closed I get 2-3 fps in the editor. Runs fine in build > 60+ fps in WebGL.

Unity support was no help for me. But I fixed this on my own.
Turns out it was an issue with DirectX 11. Switching to 12, Vulkan, or OpenGL made it run perfect again. Went from 2fps to 200fps.

I just re-installed Windows, it's back to normal after that. What is strange is that only Unity had issues, everything else was running fine and it's quite a high-end desktop.

Editing my post: On my side the issue comes from Citrix Workspace. I found related posts while Googling:

Haven't tried to reinstall, but desinstalling Citrix workspace restore the FPS to normal both in editor and build.
