    Hello,

I am working on a card game designed in Unity and I am getting some blurry rendering.

I thought perhaps someone here may know why.

I only get strange rendering when building for Windows Store and Window Phone.

Building for Desktop does not have rendering issues.

Below are links to the rendered output.

    Desktop:

    Windows Store:
    http://1drv.ms/186ocZK

    Windows Phone:
    http://1drv.ms/186oi3A

Why is the Windows Store build blurry?

Notice that the Windows Phone render has even more problems.

There appears to be what I think is an antialiasing problem on the right and top edges of the images.

Notice that the empty hand with the no score disk, has noticeable streaks up and to the right.

Also notice that the cards have a black rectangle to the right of them.

I believe this is happening because I do not have a completely transparent border around the png file.

All images are textures on a Unity plane object.

The Windows Store and Windows Phone build were created as Universal App solution.

Also, I know Unity has a sprite mode, but I want to map textures to a plane because I will later want a 3D looking game with additional 3D rendered objects.

I am also using Unity 4.6.3 and plan to upgrade to 5 this weekend.

Still cannot figure out how to fix this problem.

Someone suggested to check my build settings for Windows Store to increase the quality, but I do not see any settings that apply. When I view "Player Settings..." for Windows Store, under "Resolution and Platform" it says "Not applicable for this platform. * Shared setting between multiple platforms."

I looked under "Other Settings" and tried selecting "Optimize Mesh Data" but that did not help.

My Import Settings for each card image are:

    Texture Type "Texture".
    Alpha from Grayscale not checked.
    Alpha Is Transparent not checked.
    Wrap Mode "Clamp".
    Filter Mode "Bilinear".
    Aniso Level = 16.
    Maz Size = 1024
    Format "Compressed"

I don't know why the Import Settings would make any difference because the Desktop build is sharp with now blurriness when run at 1920 X 1080 at graphics quality good and Windowed. If I sett the graphics quality down to "fastest" then the Desktop build will look like the Windows Store build.

Where would I set the graphics quality for a Windows Store build?

I also tried building for "8.1" rather than "8.1 Universal" and that did not help.

I would like to get this blurriness fixed as soon as possible. It is the only thing holding me back from submitting my game to the Windows Store. I need this in the Windows Store before April to qualify for a contest.

As indicated in previous post, I am using a texture on a plane. I decided to see if just using a sprite would give better quality. It did not. Below are links to screen shots for Windows Store and Desktop build. The King of clubs in the lower right corner is a sprite while the rest of the cards are textures on planes. Also, my card images are 96 X 128 *.png images. I thought that perhaps that the card resolution was too low, but if so, why so the cards look great in the Desktop build.

    Windows Store with Sprite:

    Desktop with Sprite:

If I cannot solve the blurry problem, I will have no choice but to submit the game to the Windows Store with the blurry quality and then update the game later.

Have a look at the Quality settings (Not in player settings, go to Edit -> Project Settings -> Quality)

Up the top you will see the default quality settings for each platform (the green tick). Up the top form left -> right is the platform icons - make sure your Windows Store quality setting is the same as your Standalone quality setting.

Also note that on each texture you can set different import settings for each platform - make sure again here that the textures have the same settings for both Standalone and Windows Store platforms. This can be set by selecting a texture, then choosing the different tabs with the same icons as in the Quality Settings.

Thanks! That did the trick for the blurry images but I noticed that I have a problem with the text in the left corner.

Notice that there is no space between the characters on the Windows Store version. I suppose I could choose a different font. I did not see a setting to adjust kerning (character spacing) for the GUIStyle. Not sure why I would need to do something different for text for a Windows Store build.

Also, I built for Windows Store only and will try Universal build tonight to see if the Windows Phone output looks better as well.
