UnityHub appimage giving problems on linux

Im running Gentoo Linux with openrc and i3wm.

I installed the editor itself just fine (http://beta.unity3d.com/download/292b93d75a2c/UnitySetup-2019.1.0f2), but I'm struggling to install the UnityHub with the appimage (https://forum.unity.com/threads/unity-hub-v-1-0-0-is-now-available.555547/).

Using the terminal, when running it as an unprivelaged user, it gives no output and seemingly has no effect. When running as root, it produced a window for for the license agreement, then went back to its state of nothingness.

Is there any package that I could be missing to run the appimage? From my understanding I thought that appimages were distro-independant. Any help/suggestions is appreciated.

 

I'm also having this issue with the lastest version of hub
