Unity4XC.xcplugin" is denied

    Please help me all is in the title

    Error building Player: UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "/Users/***********/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins/Unity4XC.xcplugin" is denied.

    Does that file exist on your machine? It should be a symbolic link (deep) into the Unity application folder.

    On my machine that folder contains a symbolic link to the Unity install folders, so the icon has a small arrow bottom left.

    If you cannot get this problem solved, are you able to make a Build using Unity? That should create an Xcode project without needing to talk to Xcode. You can then open the project in Xcode.

    If I delete the symlink from /Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins/, then launch Unity 4.6, I am able to make a build (not build and run). This build just creates a folder with the XCOde project in it. Unity should not need to talk to Xcode when making this build - which is why the plugin isn't needed.

    Can you include some screenshots.

    Xcode is normally installed into /Applications on a Mac. What Xcode do you have? Way back in the day Xcode was installed in /Developer.

    Next, can you share up the Editor.log. I'm still puzzled why Unity writing an Xcode project needs to talk to Xcode.

    Does that plugin have the correct rights? The third screenshot shows Unity giving an UnauthorisedAccessException which makes me think that file cannot be accessed. I'm still confused why you have that in that folder and not a symlink to the one in the Unity application. The "Plugin points to the wrong location" seems odd, too.

    No, I don't fully understand the problem. If you uninstall Unity, does that plugin disappear? If you then re-install, does the plugin get replaced with a symbolic link to the plugin that's inside the Unity application?

    Actually, before you uninstall, just delete the plugin. Then try a build.

    Hello Mr Dunnett how are you ?:)
    when i install Unity 4.3 no problem all work without problem.
    But when a try with the 4.5 Unity4XC.xcplugin" is denied.

    It's actually quite hard to say what's the workaround because it's hard to diagnose the reason of the problem. You can try to delete the /Users/***********/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins/Unity4XC.xcplugin symlink and directory it's in.

    when i search Unity4XC.xcplugin it's not on my mac now
    i have look in the unity packages i just have "android player"

    i have install the Update Unity 5.1.1 and i always have the same problem
    Think you my problem is in my mac or in unity?
    If it's my mac the problem i can try to reset

    I think the problem is in the mac since you are the first person to report it. Have you deleted this directory?

    /Users/***********/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins

    If yes, it's a bit more complicated issue, but we can try to solve it.

    Hmm, looks strange. Could you please try to create the directory back using Finder? This will tell us whether there are any filesystem permission issues.

    If the bug still happens, could you please open Terminal.App, paste the following, press enter and then tell me what output comes out?

    stat /Users/***********/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins
    stat /Users/***********/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode
    stat /Users/***********/Library/Application Support/Developer

    Please replace ******* with your user name :) This would be best done in some text editor, as terminal executes all lines except the last when they are pasted.

    It's not possible :) Maybe you did a typo in the user name.

    Please try this:
