Today editor on my project reported some layout errors out of nowhere.
When questioned I selected reset to factory default.

Now when i open my projects it opens two windows one is empty the second contains my project.
Also title on the buggy one is "Unity 2020.1.6f <DX11>" without the project name as you see.
Closing one of those windows closes the other also.

    Hi @koirat,

Is this happening even in the case of creating a new project?

Maybe you can try reverting your Unity Editor's layout.

You can do it by choosing from the top bar menu: Window > Layouts > Revert Factory Settings...

    I hope this helps!

It is solved I forget to post solution here.
I copied Library/CurrentLayout-default.dwlt from my backup to my main project.

And no as I remember reverting was not helping.

All of my projects are experiencing the same issue (new and old). The solution fixes it though :)

I am having the same problems with a project I made with 2019.3.13. I first tried opening it with 2020.2, but ran into lots of problems, finally including this problem. So I removed the project from my computer, installed Unity 2019.3.13, and downloaded my project again, but I am getting this same problem.

I can confirm that for the same version, reverting default layout settings works.

I just got the same problem now. 2020.1 didn't have the problem but 2020.2 did. Both creating a new project and opening an old one. I haven't touched the layout in years so must be something changed when opening the project after installing 2020.2. Setting the Layout back to default manually after the project opened solved the problem. Hopefully that will work for all the projects I may want to open.

Since the topic is still alive, I would like to say that sometimes opening project again after the error will work.

I think this happens if you open two unity projects at the same time, and then close one.

NOPE, just had it happen again.

The other thing this may be related to is the update dialogue window, (which I can never read, because it blinks away) and perhaps the dark color scheme for non-pro.

Choose "quit" the first time, and then re-open, and it seems to work.
If you choose one of the other options, it will cause pain.

EDIT: this bug disappeared for me in 2020.2.6
