This bug is causing both Intel and Silicon versions of Unity 2019, 2020 and 2021 LTS to hang, fire up graphics cards for no reason, crash Unity, crash OSX(!) and makes slow performing builds.

    https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/is...ngfxthread-5-10ms-spikes-when-using-metal-api

There are various threads about the issue, bug reports. The issue has been known for close to a year now.

2019 LTS is usable, 2020 LTS has serious performance issue with Metal and 2021 LTS straight up crashes OSX.

Can we get some kind of word on what the solution is? Should we move to non-LTS 2022.2? What will happen to the 3 LTS versions of Unity that are currently affected?

Thanks for bringing our attention to this!

The issue you’re facing was fixed in: 2020.3.37f1, 2021.3.5f1, 2022.1.6f1, 2022.2.0a15 and should not occur in these and versions above. We also adjusted those issuetracker links so that both issues would be publicly accessible, so you can check them for more information. Also, you may want to check this issue tracker also: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/is...when-the-view-is-moved-to-an-external-display

Thanks for helping make Unity better!
