    Fellow Unity users,

Unity is having this strange problem and I've struggling with this problem for over a week now. When any installation of Unity boots up for the first time, it pops up a "welcome to Unity" dialog box. Problem with my installation, however, is that the box doesn't draw, it just creates a border and freezes unity as a whole. I can't close it now turn it off, since that part doesn't draw. Alt+F4'' ing Unity or any other program crashes the entire application. Note that I'm a student that is fairly new to Unity, but not to computers in general. I'd love to post a screencap, but Unity doesn't allow it, not even trough Fraps.

    Notable PC Specs:
    OS: Vista
    RAM: 4,6 gig
Free disc space: over 250 Gigs of free on the drive Unity is installed on, over 350 free Gigs of space on C:

    Reinstalling:
First thing I tried. The problem still persists through reïnstallation. Yes, I've checked the local/roaming and installation folders of Unity to make sure everything was gone, but that problem is still there.

Moving/deleting the HTML contents of the "Welcome to Unity" dialog box:
Didn't fix that problem, the contents box still don't draw. The HTML themselves files still open like normal.

Turning off DEP (Data Execution Prevention):
It was already off at the time of initial installation.

    Admin mode/Win XP mode:
No difference in what happens. It gives the splash screen like everytime, loads op the editor, draws the border of the now infamous dialog box, farts and freezes.

Moving the default Unity project (Angrybots):
Boots up and gives a dialog for creating a new project, creates and loads the project, tries to draw a certain dialog box and freezes.

    Suggested fixes:
Completely wiping my drives and reinstalling Windows:
    I'd rather not.

Changing a value in a .ini file:
In the off-chance Unity uses .ini files for it's settings, I might be able to change a value so it doesn't try to draw the "Welcome to Unity" dialog screen in the first place. It wouldn't be a complete fix, but a workaround would be just fine.

If anyone else has suggestion or even encountered this problem, I'd love to read your replies.

    TY,
    Higgenbothom

Have you tried a reliable registry cleaner after uninstalling, before reinstalling?

Uninstalling , cleaning ze register and reinstalling the latest updated version didn't change anything. It still freezes like it did before.

    Anyone?
