You know the web player is obsolete now right? And most web browsers will no longer support the plugins model required.

Unity web player has been discontinued for quite a long time now. There is absolutely no reason to waste your time developing for an obsolete platform.

I'd recommend switching to WEBGL and posting on GameJolt.

But modern browsers don't. Nor does Unity.

That's not what the OP was asking though.

Fair enough. Doesn't hurt to be informative though. :)

How is the average person who is trying to run a webplayer game supposed to know this?
The problem is that the Unity webplayer download page does not have information that informs people about the fact that webplayer is discontinue. It happily lets you download and install the webplayer even though there's no browsers that can run the plugin.

I think Unity should add some information on the download page that explains this.

Alas, not everyone uses modern browsers. :-(

There are browsers that let you run the plugin, they're just not current, and plenty of people aren't running the latest software. With that in mind it's perfectly valid for someone to be supporting both a WebPlayer version of their program for users with old software and a WebGL version for users with current software. I wouldn't want to do it, but if that's what I had to do to service my audience/client I certainly wouldn't want Unity stopping me.

You better make it blink and be obnoxiously colored. Because at the end of the day we still have people creating threads asking the same question that was already asked on the very page they had to reach in order to create their thread asking where they go to learn how to use Unity despite that Learn link at the top of the page.

I played a Unity web player game just a few days ago with Firefox, it worked great. I believe the web player doesn't work on Chrome and Microsoft Edge. However the Webplayer platform is obsolete, so developers shouldn't waste time on it.
