Howdy everyone, today we’d like to announce a new initiative we’re trying out called Dev Blitz Days. These days are an opportunity to bring our internal dev teams closer together with you, our users. Each Blitz Day will feature a different internal engineering team and during that day, they will be focused on the forums and Reddit, ready to engage with you and answer any questions you might have in their topic area(s). The first of these Blitz Days will feature our very own UI team, spanning topics around uGUI, UI Toolkit / UI Builder, Text, and Editor Extensions! How is this different from any other day? While our devs are very active on the forums already, the Blitz day is different because you can ask them questions directly, confident that they will be there, see you, and answer. So here is how this will work: On August 26th, between 9 am and 5 pm EST (since the team is in Montreal), join us in the Unity UI team - Dev Blitz Q&A forum or on Reddit in our AMA topic and ask any burning questions you may have (or just say “hello”). Our goal is to answer all questions asked during the Blitz Day time period above!* The Unity UI team - Dev Blitz Q&A forum is a temporary space that we created to help keep this event organized. It will already open for your questions the day before on August 25th to give everyone a chance to post their threads. The team will start answering on the 26th. After the event period ends, we will lock the forum for new threads but keep the threads themselves open for replies. A week or so after the event, all threads will be moved to other sub-forums that fit the discussion topics to allow for continued conversations. Some basic rules: Post your questions by starting new threads in the Unity UI team - Dev Blitz Q&A forum. Please remember to comply with the code of conduct: be respectful, both to your fellow forum users and to the Unity staff. Don’t bundle multiple unrelated questions in one thread. One question/topic per thread. We may filter out off-topic or duplicate questions. Questions asked during the event periods will be answered, but not necessarily right away or during the event periods. Some questions take time or specific people to answer. What types of questions will we be answering: We will be answering questions on the topics of uGUI, UI Toolkit / UI Builder, Text, and Editor Extensions. Remember, this is your chance to ask the devs questions directly, so focus on questions that only they can answer! Questions don’t have to be technical in nature. You could ask about specific future plans, why something was made a certain way, etc. We won’t be able to answer questions like, “Can you help me debug these 1,000,000 lines of code?” Well, we can, but the answer will likely be, “No” *Disclaimer: We are truly intending to answer all questions, as openly and honestly as possible but we don’t know how many or what types of questions will actually roll in. This is our first attempt at this. As such, we have no idea how this is going to go, but we do know that we want to find out together with you all. So bring it on!
