    Hi everyone.

Just curious if anyone knows if it is against the terms of service to develop a game engine with development tools using Unity. For example, could you build the next Roblox or Minecraft with Unity or does that violate the terms?

Thanks for any (understandably not a lawyer) insight.

Now I'm not sure that I would consider Minecraft to be a competing game engine. Roblox, it has been argued, is a game engine (or at least Roblox Studio is). I think making Roblox or Minecraft wouldn't qualify, but making Roblox Studio might.

There are definitely tons of existing games out there that were created in Unity that have robust modding support. (VRChat for example) I don't think making a game that has mod support would qualify as making a competing game engine.
