    Hi,

Please recommend other brands and model of sensors for vr-use.
Headset is not required, our initial requirements is to be able to navigate through game using palm gestures.

    Is this device supported?

    Thank you in advance!

i've tested these with desktop pc+unity application: xbox one (model 1520), kinect for windows, realsense d415,
all seems to work ok - for skeleton tracking, havent used for gestures..

in your case, how far the sensor would be from users?
could you use Leap Motion for that?

because with d415 i've certainly had issues with some lighting conditions, or after 3.5m distance,
also see this info about gestures+nuitrack,

    Hi,

    Thank you for your feedback.
Unfortunately, kinect is already discontinued. Can you recommend alternative motion sensors for unity rendered applications?

    Thank you!

Yes, and you would have known that if you had simply read the page that link goes to.

New and second hand kinect v1 and v2 sensors can still be picked up fairly cheaply on ebay and the like, so if its just to experiment that's a way to go.
MS have just announced their newest model, (Azure Kinect), now specifically aimed at non-game tasks (including VR) so they're not discontinuing it.

I reckon Unity support will turn up soon.

Kinect v2 pc adapter was discontinued, and people jacked the price up on ebay.
I've used v1, it works okay but needs driver and 3rd party plugin. No need for adapter though.

I didn't know about azure kinect, I'll keep that one in mind.

Kinect is not really for VR due it messing up the VR tracking depending of the headset you use or due the latency if used instead of the original controllers. Even Leap Motion is better for that purpose.
