    @Matthew Miner

I've sent you a PM about sharing some code with you. We have had a cutscene editor in the works for a couple of weeks. If you want to have a look at it let me know. It has a timeline and event triggering setup, camera motion control, and a few other things, so could be a good starting point. Seems silly to leave one of our devs working on it when there will be one available shortly.

I sent a message to your email. I'd love to see what you've come up with so far. Anything time saved over the next six weeks is more time for polishing/tweaking/implementing additional features. I really appreciate the code offer.

    @Matthew

Emails have been sent back and forth, you should find a UnityPackage in your email with our system so far. Theres documentation in there as well.

Hope you find it useful. :)

    Good Luck, Guys

Terrific initiatives, each could really bring a bounty of creative and production power to Unity...

Sidenote: Very nicely done proposal, Matt. Wish my thesis students were as neat, organized and clear about what they intend to accomplish. Often by end of senior year, the whole thing is distilled down to a desperate lunge for the finish... Ahh the joys of production. Good luck!

So on the application it said we had to be willing to post regularly to a blog if accepted. I have only found one of the 4 projects blogs(cutscene editor); does anyone know where the other blogs are?

The blog for the terrain erosion project can be found here: http://sixtimesnothing.wordpress.com/

I'm not sure about the others.

That's all of them :). I am just very surprised that Unity doesn't give you more publicity, like instead of announcing Unity Summer of Code on their front page, they could link to the actual progress being made.

Unity is awesome, and you are all making it better!

Lightmapping tool is ready for quite a while now, however we're still waiting for Unity site update.
I'm not sure if I should give it here, however you can contact me to get the link to the Lightmapping Tool

Definitely not, at least not for now.
The screenshow shows heavy usage of Unity 2.5+ editor capabilities, that are not present on Unity 2.1 (and thus Unity iPhone)

I know that some were still in need of cleaning up but I don't have anything concrete beyond that. I've put an item on my to-do list to follow-up on them, hopefully I'll get down to that item sooner as opposed to later! :)

The Terrain Toolkit should be out very soon. Aras has said it's ready for release and all that's left for me to do is a tiny bit of clean up work, updating the docs to reflect some new functionality and creating a tutorial video to support the release.

    So not long now! :)

    Need a beta tester? ;)

Yeah, the link is still down, but hopefully it will be fixed today.

And thanks for the positive feedback - even before the release! :)

As a band-aid you can download the Terrain Toolkit using this link:

    Terrain Toolkit

We're working on a proper fix but again the above can be used for now.

If we have any then we'll do it around Summer, until then enjoy Spring. :)

(sorry to those of you in the southern hemisphere, we're very northern-focused with respect to our seasons :p )

And I'm back with an update...

Unfortunately the Cutscene Editor is officially "on ice" and isn't slated for full completion as part of last year's USoC program. It just wasn't up to par when the completion date passed (nor after in a padding period) and it's just not on the radar to get tidied up. Unfortunately not all USoC projects were finished as planned despite mighty efforts by all involved!

So it will be in 3.0 then eh?

Well, you are "KrankyBoy" so we'll let that slide. :p

What is 3.0? Never heard of it...

    <ducks><runs away>

And no, not in 3.0 either... (queue up another round of boooos from Sir Kranky :p )

With all this negative feedback maybe HB will put it on the list for 3.1.

Any plans to make some sort of editable color scheme in the Inspector for quicker finding of various levels of drop down arrow sections (or any level for that matter)?
Not necessarily exactly as in the attached jpg,
more embedded in the panel background would be better not over text but under.
For us more graphically oriented people.

What is "all this negative feedback" you're mentioning? Someone asked about the status of one project that was just not up to par so it's not released, that's just information sharing so you lost me there.

I don't really want this thread to turn into a "are you gonna do <insert something here>?" discussion, things like that can/should be handled elsewhere like Wish List. So let's keep all posts focused on the Unity Summer of Code program, and generally about last year's effort in specific (if we do this again we'll most definitely start a new thread). :)

So I don't ignore your question: I don't know of plans around that in specific but we're clearly keen on constant editor improvements so if it's not there already go log that as a request on our Feedback site, thanks!

Last note: to be clear, the Unity Summer of Code program has nothing to do with our product release cycles (3.0 or otherwise). I was asked about the Cutscene Editor being in 3.0 and answered back that it won't be in 3.0, but I (and others) want it to be clear that USoC content is entirely separate from product release efforts. Sorry if I induced any confusion!

"all this negative feedback" was tongue in cheek,
sorry I didn't add an emoticon.

    :D

Also, sorry I got off topic, didn't think about the forum I was in, just deflecting off the 3.0 statement.
Will go to the Wish List section, thanks.

Actually, that was the best bit for me. When it's the middle of winter I don't feel so bad about spending all my free time at home writing code. :p

Not that winter in Sydney is really 'winter' anyway... 8)
