I've just decided to upgrade to Unity 5 and begun working on a small project. I went to open Unity the other day, however, and noticed that it was taking a considerable amount of time on "Importing small assets". I wondered if the project was corrupt, so I created a new project and behold, the same issue occurred.

This has happened for all projects, and seems to be stuck in an endless loop since I've left it overnight attempting to import with no luck.

Has anybody else experienced this issue, and if so, has anyone came to a conclusion with it? My version number is 5.0.2f1 and running on windows 7.

I got the same issue with generated assets. Might be due to bad assets but it's really annoying, you have to force close unity and it doesn't really give you a chance to debug. It just does nothing, not even using cpu.

Unity 2018.2b5 again this is occuring, also happened with the beta of 2017.3 and I actually don't know since when unity has to import small assets EVERY TIME it recompiles. Reminds me off the Unreal Engine...

You should post issues with early beta versions in the appropriate beta forum. No one who you need to see it is going to be paying attention to 3 year old necro threads for 2018.2 beta issues.
