Unity Started Crashing on Startup today

    Today I restarted Unity, and nothing I do will make it work. The Editor.log looks like this just before the crash. This is really frustrating as I've been on a roll recently. Does anyone have any idea? I have filed a bug report.

    so that happens in completely empty projects too?

    Yep. Unity Hub->New crashes in the same way.

    I've uninstalled all versions of Unity, and uninstalled and re-installed Unity Hub, and still crash on an empty project.

    I have a similar problem..started a thread yesterday.
    Latest official Unity release was broken and a fresh install didn't solve the problem.
    An older version works fine.

    I think in my case an asset caused this.

    ..but I am not really affected because I use 2 different machines. First one to test out assets and second one for the real project.
    Also I make daily backups of the whole 2nd machine..not just the project file.

    I am a beginner of unity and I noticed the fragility of the system straight away.

    Well Grrrr. I figured a complete system reset, and reinstalling might resolve the issue.

    Sadly, I just got Unity re-installed after a reset and it's still crashing on startup. Horribly frustrating.

    So after resetting my computer and that not resolving the issue, I decided to check and see if the beta of 2019.1 would make a difference. I backed up my project, and opened it in 2019.1 and it opened. I wouldn't compile but it opened, and that was awesome!

    So I tried a new project in 2018.3 and that too opened.

    I deleted my Temp opt and Library files for the umpteenth time and my project opened in 2018. I'm not sure what happened, but it appears that installing 2019 may have had some impact.

    All's well that ends well and I have a VERY empty hard drive after the system reset so that's a nice side-effect.
