I'd like to run a Unity app on Android with a transparent background, so that the Android desktop shows through. The Unity app would appear to be some kind of widget.

I thought of two ways to do that:

    - have Unity not render anything in the background. Is that possible? From the threads I found, since Unity 4.3, it doesn't work anymore.
    - capture a screenshot of the desktop before opening the Unity app and use the screenshot as a background in Unity. is that feasible? (I am not an Android expert)

Tks for any help. If there is a solution, I would probably want to subcontract its development.

In Unity 5 on Android the alpha channel of the framebuffer is always cleared to 255. So I don't think there is a way to achieve what you want.
