Unity UI Unity Scene All Items Have Become Invisible And Uninteractive

So I'm creating my first menu scene, consisting of just two sliders, a button and some text. I try to make a script to change the scene from the button press. Now even after removing the script, none of these elements in my script are visible or interactive. If I remove the background, they are now visible but do not function at all. How can I fix this?
