    Hi all,

If there's already a thread about this, please do link it, but I've searched the internet for an answer, the closest I found was that Unity Remote 5 is available for Android 4.4 devices and up. However on Google Play it says it's not available for the Android 11 phone and won't let me download the application. Where can I find more information on this?

Anyone has another workaround apart from downloading and installing the apk constantly?

The issue you're experiencing with Unity Remote 5 not being available for Android 11 devices could be due to compatibility issues. It's possible that the app has not been updated to work with the latest version of Android.

One potential workaround is to use Android Studio's built-in emulator to test your Unity project instead of using a physical device. This can be a good option if you don't have access to a compatible device or prefer to test on a virtual environment.

To use the Android emulator in Android Studio:

    1. Open Android Studio and create a new virtual device.
    2. Select the device type and configuration you want to use.
    3. Wait for the virtual device to start up.
    4. Install and run Unity Remote 5 on the virtual device.
    5. Connect the virtual device to your Unity project using the Unity Remote feature.
Another option is to try using a different remote app for testing your Unity project. Some alternatives to Unity Remote include Vysor and Scrcpy, which allow you to mirror your Android device's screen on your computer and control it from there.

It's also worth checking the Unity forums and community for any updates or solutions to the issue you're experiencing with Unity Remote 5.

Prefer to test on a real device than emulator to be honest.

One workaround could be to create the .apk build and copy it on the target device, however not the most efficient way of working.

Fingers crossed for the release of the Unity Remote 5 for the latest Android version.

yeah that's how we're working around it currently, but thought there'd be smoother ways.

Oh never crossed my mind I could use it with Unity actually. Thanks for the advice!

    Will check them out, thanks!

It might work, however downloading from unknown websites instead of the Google PlayStore poses a security risk. Normally you should not be able to install from unknown sources unless you explicitly allow it. Strongly disadvised.

Unity needs to provide a fresh new version in the stores.

I think its great idea, but I have problem with this solution. Unity does not see the emulator device.

    Some additional information:
    - USB debugging is ON.
    - Had to use Android 9 (10 and 11 not available on playstore)
    - Unity Remote 5

    Hello Unity Developers.

If you want us to continue using your product and developing with it, why the heck aren't you updating Unity Remote? Do you just not care? Are you planning on dropping Android support? How hard is it for you to come out with a Unity Remote 6 or could you at least have the decency to inform your developer community what you are doing about this issue.

I have been using an old Android so that I can get Unity Remote to work, but now your AR plugins no longer work on them (although your documentation says that their OS version is still supported). And if I get a new Android I can use your new AR plugins but can't use Unity Remote.

What are your recommendations? Do we all just need to develop using Android 9?
