Once you tried a few it gets faster. I'm always trying the integration of my favorite things like doctest, entt, DearImGui and get a status window running. With a base you can take along you get up and running quickly.

They do. They just don't care. What they are trying to solve is how to keep all the mobile ads-driven companies. Not us.

Nobody cares about Audio enough to even consider it among features that matter.

Why are you all the way that you are?

Because Fmod has a DLL version and I can integrate it into any engine I want (almost). Although with some work. :D

Godot has both FMOD and Wwise plugins available. Don't know about the rest.

Are you referring to my not including it in the list of stuff Flax already has?

I'm already not using Unity's built-in audio. There are a selection of great off-the-shelf systems with excellent tools at a low cost (potentially free) which can bolt into basically any engine, so it doesn't really matter what comes built in.

    I DO!
HRTF + Spatial audio is one of my most wanted features, but let's face it, it's not something that will make your game pop in the trailer, while graphics are. :(

Erm, I respectfully disagree. Great audio certainly makes your trailer pop. No matter what graphics you use (within reason).

Hi Caitlyn, Thanks for your post I hope you doing great! I remember the day when I uploaded my first environment pack to the AssetStore back in 2012! You and Kamio did a great job with AssetStore! I wish Unity stayed more like this, a nice game engine for indies with a nice assetstore!

    Cheers,
    Philipp

Unitys new motto probably will be:

"Lets make less money .. together" - Unity

No, but we're not greedy management either.

Speaking of which who do you think said they will change something? That's right. Greedy management. Anyone expecting a positive outcome in the end from this situation is just kidding themselves. This engine is done.

My guess is they used Keijiro Takahashi’s open source (MIT) implementation wich Unity uses (or at least used to) for their post processing stack.
He’s also a Unity employee so lawyers were probably not very happy about it.

I think the word "greedy" might be feeling insulted if we keep calling Unity greedy.

I automatically (want to) believe any and all anonymous reddit posters claiming to be OG Unity employees when they discredit narratives propagated by the current defunct leadership.

Well, I wouldn't say that. DarkTonic does! MasterAudio :)

I know you're talking about Unity proper, but I couldn't resist the self-plug. And yes, we're still here.

i mean the best way would really be to destroy unity and then let them get bought out
as someone who always used to play games without audio. i realized that i loved final fantasy 7 so much, because of its audio.
audio can make a good scene an absolut perfect scene. you stuff should be build around music and not the other way around.
its really hard to make good audio, but one of the most fun things in the world is to make your own sound effects

Me in 2014 after Epic drastically undercut Unity

"The only way I see unity surviving, is if they are bought by Microsoft, who then use it in their game studios which would allow the pricing model to become competitive."

Could have improved the engine by developing games with it. Could have prioritized C# and .Net upgrades. Could have had enough capital that Epic couldn't undercut it all day.. Platform support might have been in danger though in that scenario.

Well, it doesn't help that literally every rando youtuber/mildly popular influencer is S***ting on Unity rn even if they have absolutely no idea what it is.
Was bound to happen at some point, I really hate "players" sometimes.

Yea, the algorithm picked up the drama and the randos exploit that for cheap ragebait views. Still, the outcome is what it is. Unity devs now have to deal with even more flack for using Unity. With Unity Plus gone, it'll be even a bigger issue than ever before.

I tried asking UpperEchelon to look at it. His last video was everywhere and I have pitched him a topic on locals before. Anyone could do that and more = better. Maybe you know other people.

But without heat for unity stock nothing will change. Hate the game not the player. Still it's so dumb to go for the devs.

Yeah, Some have not even bothered to read S***, since they have been saying that the price is based on downloads.(yes, even that they got wrong)
And many only blame John, ignoring that it is the entire Unity executive board. John is just the clown who shows his face on behalf of the executive board.
    legally, they don't understand S***.

As I said, the damage has already been done and goes beyond the development environment. If before we carried a bad reputation for using Unity, now we carry a complete stigma. There is not going back.

The dev has talked about setting the legal grounds that if any unfortunate incident where to occur the engine would go open source.

Been using Unity as an indie developer since 2009, professionally in studios since 2012. I've released a handful of things in both capacities. I've published assets on the Asset Store. It would be fair to say that I've invested quite a lot of time, money and energy into Unity.

I have a Plus subscription for my own projects. If the Plus tier goes away, I'm absolutely not going to spend an additional $1400 USD on Pro just to remove a splash screen, I'm taking my personal projects elsewhere.

More than that though, if the install-based fee remains, a significant portion of studios will be deterred from using Unity. To remain employable by having a relevant skillset in a competitive industry, it will be in my best interests to branch out.

Agreed, especially at this point in time as Microsoft is in a very different mindset than back in 2014.

Not able to develop at all, days of wasted time now waiting for slow minded Unity execs to say something, my project is crashed because of this clown show circus called Unity. I want to get back to work but won't accept terms, to suddenly say I own Rev-Share and with entangled self-reported install-fees is a pile of dog S***.

I want resolution, I want to get back to work on my Unity project, or if need be, to start start porting my project, but sitting around waiting is really starting to piss me off.

    to me:
    Time = Money,

    but Unity:
waste everyone's time making them wait for absurd demands=money
