Ye you can tell theres a dip but I was expecting a total crash not some 5% drop, all the news are coming out, its confirmed that unity is losing money, that the execs know it and are dumping stock, that they dont have a good long term plan, devs outcry, etc. With all this I would expect every shareholder to start panic selling

Let's put some other numbers: 100M installs of a free-to-play game, 4 cents average customer lifetime value.

Now at $34.15 and dropping. 13% from before the announcement. The dump happened. The stampede might follow.

Double this now, so far today 7% down! Finally. Been wondering when financial world gonna wake up.

    This will make us win.

EDIT: 8.5%! IT IS TUMBLING! PANIC SELLING WOOOP

EDIT: 9% DOWN - It will freeze soon because the market has that in place to avoid crashing... Then 10 minutes or so later it re-opens again and continues falling

How to lose $1.4 Billion in 20 minutes

Some big brains suggests to unite and buy Unity shares to get control over Unity, LOL.

    No, don't do it.

Not even 15 minutes into the session and we have crashed through support at 34. That's over $1B vaporized. In 15 minutes.

Yes sorry. I had meant to add something else to that but in my Unity state confusion (my bad "Idiot" developer) I forgot before posting it :)

Unity runtime fee just wiped out over a billion in their stock completely obliterating any extra profit they would have made

That is $3 dollar PER SHARE. Now I might be wrong but I think if you take the market cap / price of stock = total shares out there which if rounding down, that would be about 380 million shares so take that number at times it by $3, the company lost a little more that 1.1 billion dollars in total value.

Oh, and now they are now at over $5.5 dollars per share (or over 2 billion lost in value).

As we can see drops not so significant and a couple of years before shares was traded at 100$ and above gives me a conclusion that those who holds those shares are the same F***ing idiots who considered fees per install would be a good idea.

This is what we were all talking about earlier a few pages back. Those guys and one called MarketWatch who do it ALL THE TIME. They hype a stock and then at open it plumets getting everyone who bought in to "bag hold" the empty bags, as the phrase goes. Basically helping the institutions buy out of their positions. Scum

Unity made a huge mistake, but we all have good time with it in past, let's not be too harsh at this moment, please be angry, not sardonic.

    Well
    It probably is.
Technically imposssible. It's absolutely crazy how fast you get with C++, but going down from safe defaults into the boiler room is way too much work for almost all cases related to gaming to justify the time.

As much as everyone is celebrating them getting punished. This stock decrease in the long run won't be good for anyone. They were already loosing money. What a disaster all around...

I am expecting to hear about Unity not messing with game builds anymore and stopping with this plot where she has rights to run stuff over them.

If the next annoucements do not make clear that developers are the ones with full control over what happens with the game build I won't even consider getting back to the Engine.

Capitalism has its drawbacks, but one of the good things about it is that poorly run companies go away after awhile. If they didn't want their stock price to drop they should have done a better job running the company.

I don't want to crush your party but that is maybe a minor correction but there is no panic. And honestly why should investors panic at all? The short and medium impact will be minor it might even come to a positive cash flow for Unity as many projects are still in the pipeline. That's more a problem for the time after the next 2-3 years. But till then I don't see this going to crash at all. Cheaper buying opportunities if you ask me (but please don't ask me. ;) )

I understand you... I've been developing it for two years... and this morning I started studying Unreal and C++.
It will take me a while to get the hang of it but I thought worse, in the end C++ isn't that complex.

After all, although different in syntax, they always derive from C.

Watching the Unity Stock trainwreck.. Keep in mind this alternate reality.. I wonder if some of the board sold off a ton of their stock so they could buy it back low and "price fix" the crashing stock prices.. I am an entperprise business exec myself and these things happen. The stock should be tanking way harder based on the news attention on this.

That's true. It's just a shame these decisions were made. In the end if Unity goes away it means less choice and competition. Not to mention all the work that went into the software. That's life I guess.
