Unity Particles Emitting From Mesh Texture

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to get unity particles to emit with the colour of the texture on the mesh they are emitting from, when the texture is an image?

I am guessing you would haveto somehow get the colour value of the texture pixel on the mesh that each particle is being emitted from.

TC particles has the feature of emitting from a texture, and I would use this but can't get any of the TC Particles shaders to work with lights in my scene, and I need to use lights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
