I've tried using Unity 1.7f1, 2.7f2 and 3.0f6 (don't know if versions make a difference at all) as well as some possible fixes, but i still can't open Unity as i get the "Could not establish a connection with the Unity Package Manager local server process" error message when i try to. Hello Kipey, Thanks a lot for providing the logs. Do you happen to have any proxy configuration in your system? Unity Package Manager runs locally, so the localhost address (127.0.0.1) needs to be excluded from the proxy requests. I saw you are running in Windows 10, if you have set up the proxy manually in your system, please verify that you are not using the proxy for local addresses, or add 127.0.0.1 to the list of addresses where the proxy server will be skipped. Another scenario is that you have your proxy configured through environment variables: HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY or UNITY_PROXYSERVER. If that's the case, you should have UNITY_NOPROXY set as well, including the localhost value: 127.0.0.1. But I don't think this is your issue, as per the logs you included. We are working right now on a better approach to this issue, where the user doesn't have to explicitly include 127.0.0.1 when using a proxy on their system. Hope this helps, Supi
Hey, Just out of curiosity: did you have Unity running in that computer before? For what I see, you mentioned that you tried to use 1.7f1, 2.7f2 and 3.0f6, with no success. Is this a new machine, or are you trying new versions of Unity? In case you don't have a proxy configured, do you happen to have any Firewall or antivirus that could be blocking the local requests? Something for sure is preventing Unity to connect to the Package Manager. Regards, Supi
This is the opposite of a new machine, i've been able to use Unity on it without problems for a long time before this. I have tried turning off both of my antivirus programs, windows defender and avast, at once yet nothing changed.
So, which version of Unity used to work for you? What changed on your side that is preventing you for using Unity now? 1.7f1, 2.7f2 and 3.0f6 are tags from 2019.1, 2019.2 and 2019.3 releases respectively. I know there was a change introduced between 2019.2 and 2019.3 on the way Windows System Proxy configuration is used by Unity, but it doesn't seem to be your problem, as you mentioned that you didn't manage 2019.1 nor 2019.2 to work. I'm trying to understand what's the cause of your problem. Regards, Supi
2.7f2 used to be the version that i used and worked, i'm not exactly sure what could have caused a change as it seemed to have come out of nowhere.
Then it's definitely something on your system preventing the local service to connect. I mean, you are confirming me that Unity didn't change on your side. Maybe a Windows 10 OS update is somehow messing up with your proxy or firewall configuration? Some new software that you installed recently? As per your logs, Unity Package Manager is running, but the editor is unable to connect to it. Could you check if you have any of this environment variables on your system: HTTP_PROXY, http_proxy, HTTPS_PROXY, ALL_PROXY, NO_PROXY, no_proxy, UNITY_PROXYSERVER, UNITY_NOPROXY ?
It might be a windows update, i remember updating around that time. None of those variables are set. Edit: My last update was on 24.01, however i could use Unity just fine until 31.01.
Hello @supitaUnity , It's definitely not a problem from his system, it's happening with me and with a lot of people as well, the community would really appreciate if Unity takes this issue seriously cause it's affecting peoples work diagnostic_report_Wed_02_12_2020__62503_71 4 out of 6 checks passed: [ { "name": "UPM registry reachable", "description": "Make an HTTP request to the UPM package registry", "result": "PASS", "detail": "HTTP/1.1 200 OK\nX-Powered-By: Express\nProvider: Genesis\nDate: Wed, 12 Feb 2020 03:25:06 GMT\nConnection: close" }, { "name": "Ping UPM registry", "description": "Measure the latency of the UPM package registry API", "result": "WARNING", "detail": "3 pings made in 6.393 seconds\nAverage latency: 287.14 ms\nMinimum latency: 229.76 ms\nMaximum latency: 320.31 ms\nStandard deviation: 49.89" }, { "name": "Ping UPM download", "description": "Measure the latency of the UPM package download endpoint", "result": "WARNING", "detail": "2 pings made in 5.169 seconds\nAverage latency: 143.03 ms\nMinimum latency: 139.57 ms\nMaximum latency: 146.49 ms\nStandard deviation: 4.89" }, { "name": "UPM registry download speed", "description": "Test the Internet connection using the UPM package registry", "result": "PASS", "detail": "Measured speed to the UPM registry: 2.83 Megabits per second" }, { "name": "Speedtest.net", "description": "Test the Internet connection using Speedtest.net", "result": "PASS", "detail": "Measured speed to the Speedtest.net server: 43.12 Megabits per second" }, { "name": "HTTP proxy environment variables", "description": "Detect whether proxy-related environment variables are set (HTTP_PROXY, HTTPS_PROXY, ALL_PROXY, NO_PROXY, UNITY_PROXYSERVER, UNITY_NOPROXY)", "result": "PASS", "detail": "No proxy support has been configured through environment variables." } ]
Hello again, I'm really sorry you are experiencing this issue, I understand your frustration, but this error has been a symptom of different issues, which could be dependent on the OS where Unity is running, the version of Unity, the proxy/environment variables/firewall/antivirus/network configuration of the computer. As I said, we are working in a fix right now for this issue that will be live soon, as we are aware the impact it has in the users that are experiencing. In the case of @Kipey1 , I do think is something related to the system configuration that changed, as Unity was working and then, the same version of Unity stopped working. Something is preventing the connection to the local service. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas of what could cause that on Windows 10. Please when you find a solution for your problem, I would appreciate if you let me know what was the cause. In the case of @mown90 , I'm lacking information, the log of the diagnostic tool doesn't have the same output of the original one posted originally in this thread, but in both cases the connection with the local service is failing. But, again, the source of the problem could be completely different. Have a great day everybody, Supi
Hi @Kipey1 and @mown90, would you mind trying the latest version (v0.1.5) of the diagnostic tool? We added an extra check which tries to launch the Unity Package Manager process and perform a health check. Here is a link to download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aQM2LgsH_txgkXItBvvqHDLWPXcBgcAT/view?usp=sharing For the health check, you'll need to point the diagnostic tool to the Unity Package Manager executable. The easiest way to do this is via the command line with the --unity-package-manager-path or -p flag e.g. Code (CSharp): /path/to/upm-diag-win.exe -p /path/to/unity/Data/Resources/PackageManager/Server/UnityPackageManager
Hey @Kipey1 , someone point me this thread, this might help you out, they mention Windows defender and that they had to restart windows: https://forum.unity.com/threads/cou...ger-local-server-process.746267/#post-5116958 Other people mention other solutions for this problem in that thread. Hope this helps, Supi

Hello @supitaUnity I tried what was said in the thread that you shared with us, and i changed the value of windows firewall from regedit, and a very weird something happened, after i restarted my PC unity started and passed "Starting Server...", but if i close Unity and try to open it again it will not open, until i restart my PC again and then it will start You have to help us out guys Thanks.
Thanks a lot for the new logs. I talked this afternoon with the team that works with in the installation process, and they confirmed me that when Unity is installed, Windows Defender is whitelisted, so it doesn't interfere with Unity local processes. @mown90 can you walk me through what you did please, maybe it help us to get a better idea of the source of your problem. Did you reinstalled Unity again? when you uninstalled and reinstalled Unity, did you do it through the Hub? which value in registry did you change? do you remember by any chance what was the previous value and the new value you entered? When you say: started and passed "Starting Server...", does that mean that you managed to launch Unity successfully and have it in a working state? After having Unity working, the registry key doesn't change its value again? After closing Unity, if you open it again, you will get the error of unable to connect to the Package Manager? Does Unity works again after restarting the PC? Thanks a lot for the info, Supi

Unity version - 2019.3.14f1 - Package Manager error , It happens when I download any package from assets store , When ever I try opening an project it says Unity Package manager error , I even diagnostic my unity package and it had a error on it. It sometimes work when you turn off your firewall from window security. Please look at the file I uploaded bc it says Please contact unity support to receive help in diagnosing your issue. If there are any ways to fix the problem please explain how to get to the file or an method because it's confusing whenever someone says go check proxy or the unity_proxy.
We'll need you to check out the information pinned in this subforum to help diagnose this. https://forum.unity.com/threads/read-me-first-troubleshooting-connection-loading-project-issues-with-package-manager.869683
