Every day at least once I see UnityLogin.jpg
Sometimes I see this more then once per day.
    I have Unity 5.3.1.f1
This is becoming quite annoying, is it suppose to happen at all besides moment when I start Unity for first time ?
I have static IP and Windows 10

Hmmm I don't start & exit Unity that frequently but I think they must do that automatically every X Unity starts because I get it too. It's a bit annoying giving the complexity of my password but oh well.

    Same here. Unity, fix this.

If I click "Remember Me", I expect the site or app in question to do just that and not ask my login details ever again.

Weird - I only got that the first time I installed Unity 5 and never again since then, not even after upgrading, to 5.1, 5.2, etc. - Geez I almost forgot that window entirely. :D

I get it for periods. It doesn't matter what licensing it's registered with - all my Unity installations do it at least once a day for a while, then takes a break for days or weeks. Had this on OS X and Windows, all sorts of versions.

it could be different causes but on my side im using a vpn, if i dont change server i close project ( or if unity editor crash *cough*) it will remember me. if i change vpn server and restart unity it require me to put login again, so any user with an ISP that change ip dynamically should have the problem

I know my IP and even my physical location will seem to change, even sometimes seem to say I'm in Chicago although I'm over 300 miles away, although I'm at the same desktop all the time so what Damien Delmarle say is might be correct.

Even then, Steam somehow doesn't have issue with "changing IP" and I didn't have to enter my password there in AGES. So I don't know how Valve can do it, while Unity can't. And never had this issue on 4.x either, even with Asset Store logins.

I've seen this quite a bit, i'm pretty sure I've raised in some previous Unity version but I'll do it again and see what's going on.

Hey, I'm currently looking into this. And I just can't seem to reproduce this. Any of you did any additional steps? Like lost internet connection while working on something within Unity? Logged in/out while having faulty connection? Currently I don't feel like I have any leads to work with, as everything I've tried works just as expected.

It seems that Unity requires you to re-login after it was started in offline mode, after you get back online, but that's about it. Also does this happen with one particular account? Project? Machine?

    for me:
it happen at every computers/project i have at home. i only have one account.
Im working from China, if i dont use VPN, account login or asset store cannot being loaded. but thats not a problem unity can fix anyway.

my vpn is logged on country A, I open> close >open unity : it will not ask me to sign in
my vpn is logged on country A, i switch to server on country B, I open> close >open unity : it will not ask me to sign in
my vpn is logged on country A, I open>i switch to server in country B> close >open unity : it will ask me to sign in

so anytime we are in a unity session, if the IP range change to a distant location it will reset the login

I know from experience this could be one of the hardest things to look for, especially if you're using a machine ID algorithm made by a third party :/

I'll have days when the connection drops out frequently, often near the end of Friday for some reason. My current ISP sucks. But I mostly get micro-dropouts, and usually don't work with Unity while that's happening, and my IP address has not changed during these. I also have an inner router (modem gets external IP, inner router in bridge mode passes on private IP addresses statically), in case that matters. But neither the internal nor the external IP address has changed since about August.

No, when I get the login box I check that all connections are fine and log in. I have a constant IM connection open that is very sensitive to micro-dropouts, so I usually can tell at a glance if things are working.

It seems like it doesn't like knowing that Internet has dropped out at all, whether verification with servers worked or not.

MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Windows 10 gaming beast all have it from time to time with Unity Personal. Usually when I get it happening once I get it at least a few more times on that system, and only once on the others. Then it's fine for days or weeks. Also happened every time I launched it with Pro 5.0 (reported it back then too) with just one of the systems registered as using Pro.

    Still no luck. Weird.

Does it still happen if you use different computer and/or different account? What about your VPN, could you give some more details about it?

I still cannot reproduce it. I've used CyberGhost (the first free VPN I've found that actually seemed to work) and switching from Europe to USA within multiple countries/states did not seem to force me to relogin. Not even once was I prompted. Maybe some of the settings in your VPN cleans some files from your PC, which in result Unity cannot find and therefore asks to relogin? Can you try looking around your settings and see if anything fixes the issue?

The only definite way I know I can force it is by switching to newer versions. A new patch version triggers a new login check every time. I don't feel that's the way it should behave either.

Since we always use multiple versions to test out projects, we install new ones quite constantly, and it hasn't triggered this for me at all, as far as I can remember.

Also, just tried using same project on two different machines (Windows and Macbook Pro). Nothing. I've also tried using different versions of Unity, trying to login/relogin by hand to see if it gets triggered to do so (i.e. one computer is logged out, the other is logged in, but it had no difference).

So far - still nothing yet. Will continue looking once I get some more ideas/clues.

Happened again, just like clockwork. My two machines are both macs, however they are on completely different networks. Maybe it's some sort of copy protection.

Click on the icon - asks me to sign in. Dialog goes away, but Unity does not load. Click on the icon, I am in the second time. Happens every morning.

I just launched it on one of my desktops for the first time in a couple of days, and it did *not* ask me to log in. This surprised me. So I switched to the laptop and quit Unity there. Restarted Unity, and it asked me for a username and password. It doesn't even frickin' remember the e-mail, which is just rubbing it in.

So the computer used most frequently for Unity (laptop) DOESN'T remember my login FIVE SECONDS LATER, while the one I mostly use to show people on the forums stuff and leave Unity not running on for days DOES remember it.

Been starting and quitting Unity all day, and it hasn't asked me for a new login even once after installing the latest patch on all computers.

Have you made some significant changes to your machine? Maybe something you've done influenced it?

I've also tried different machines w/ different locations (VPN) logging in and out manually, but nothing caused constant disconnecting issue. I'm afraid I'll have to leave this issue as is for now - not reproducible, because I can't seem to find any cause for it.

Can anyone else confirm that the patch helped them? Maybe some other change in the update coincidentally fixed it?

I'm also having this problem. It seems to be related to the local router and DHCP configuration. I recently made some changes and since then, I didn't have to type my login infos again.
It seems that there were some bad DHCP configuration. There were conflicts between fixed IP addresses and dynamic IP addresses. I reordered properly the whole thing and now the problem seems to be gone.
Maybe there were some issues with the local IP address changing too frequently or sometimes getting an IP that also had special ports configurations?

Both the MacBook Pro and the Mac mini have been stable. I have put off OS updates while trying to observe this weird Unity issue. At least the desktop is still remembering my login, and my logs on my server confirms I have the same IP as while it was at its worst. /var/log/wtmp shows the same IP address for all of January and now.

It's still a mystery, but at least starting up Unity is a little less of a hassle for now :)

This is starting to really annoy me. I'm using one of those longer passwords, as one is advised to use, and every day, sometimes more than once (not always) I have to either type it or open my password manager to fetch it. This happens to me on Windows 10, with 64-bit, and over on my Mac Mini, again with 64-bit. I have a static IP. I'm up to date with Unity on both machines.

I notice that it says "Connecting" first, which makes it sound like its trying to "remember me"; perhaps there is a timeout? I'm in Australia, and the ping and roundtrip times can be longer than from many parts of the world... I've been wondering whether it might even just be a DNS lookup that takes a bit longer than expected?

Whatever it is, I'd be more than happy to help track it down...

This happens to me CONSTANTLY with my Macbook Pro, and NEVER with my Windows Desktop.

Obviously since my MBP is a laptop, it is constantly sleeping and awaking, and gaining and losing a wifif connection, so that might have something to do with it. I tend to leave Unity running all the time, so it is getting slept and awoken, connecting/disconnecting, etc while Unity is running.

I've had the worst week for network stability, but the best week for the Unity editor's login memory. Everything is working fine and I no idea why :p

Got two login prompts today. It's been going on for months here.

In my case it happens when I switch between projects. In general Unity is always open. But there is a lot of Windows 10 hibernate/resume during the day.

If there is anything I can trace/log/fiddler, please let me know.

Looking at the logs twice today (one time I had to put all my details in again, the other time I did not), I see the following line is present only when I had to enter my details again:

    Timeout while processing request "https://core.cloud.unity3d.com/api/login"
    .

(the extra full-stop on the next line seems to have been part of it, for what it is worth).

That would seem to support the idea that there is a timeout, and the result is that it requests all of the login information again, as a result.

Does this help track the problem down?

I can understand a timeout. What I don't understand is why it forgets all of your info when it times out. That doesn't seem to be a sensible response. Boot me back to a login screen, sure, but at least populate it with the data that you've previously saved for me so that I can try again manually. If the credentials are wrong I won't be able to log in, and I'll change them. But if they are right there isn't any reason to wipe them.

I can confirm that I and others in my team have this problem pretty much every day, both at work and at home, ever since Unity 5.

We are in Tasmania, Australia. We are using Unity professional. The problem is not consistent, but it is very, very common.

I've attached the Editor.log for a failed attempt.

On the face of it, your problem and mine may be different, even if the symptoms are the same.

Looking at your log, you are having a problem with an "invalid" package, the one which provides the home window for Unity, which is booting you back out of the startup process. I believe that is only loaded after getting past the timeout that I'm seeing, and when Unity is trying to provide the home screen.

This would seem to indicate that there is more than one way to get back to this not-logged-in state, so we may well be seeing the result of several minor flaws, all of which result in the same failure from the user's perspective. It would be good to provide more information to the user who sees this situation frequently. And of course it would be great if the login credentials were not forgotten when you are booted back to this screen for whatever reason...

The easiest way to forget your password is to remember it.

I'm now using one of the latest betas (no, not the latest beta available on the download page, B9, but the one before that, B17) on both the desktop and laptop now. The desktop ALWAYS asks for the username and password all over again on upgrades, and sometimes just for the hell of it. On every launch some days. The laptop hasn't nagged me in a while.

I just opened Unity on a company's private wifi at a new place, and it continued using the existing credentials. IP address changes definitely have nothing to do with it for me (but the desktop only changes every 1-3 months anyway, so I already knew that).

I was getting this issue but then I realized I can just close the login window and Unity doesn't complain. It just lets me continue. So try ignoring it and just closing the login window. Works for me on Unity 5.3.4. Every time I close and open Unity it asks me to log in. But I just close the window and Unity doesn't seem to complain, crash, or anything.

I suppose that might be okay if you are directly loading a project, but I go to the project selection window, as I have a number of projects on the boil. If I close the login window Unity goes no further. And it also decides to drop my username and password entirely (as far as I can tell) - when I start again immediately it doesn't even try to use my credentials to log in.

Again, even if the timeout is unavoidable for some reason, there needs to be a change in the handling of the situation - the credentials I asked be remembered should be retained rather than abandoned. I really can't see why this is difficult.

Yea, it seems to have gotten worse. Now that there two places to login, even switching accounts is difficult. It rarely remembers my login, at least not for more than a day, and have even had to re-enter my serial number a few times.

Yeah; I think whenever it fails to connect periodically, it throws the screen up - rather than wait, try again, then throw the screen up.

Did I mention it's really annoying?
