    Hi,

I'm in the unity learn - essential pathways - Mission -Explore Unity. Should I follow those tutorials or just join the courses on Gamedev.tv, which is $39 for three Unity courses.

Which way is better for beginners without game development experiences?

    Thanks,

I realise this is an older post but am posting it for others that come across it.

I went through the Unity Essentials course and for the most part, I think it is a waste of time. The game dev tv beginner courses are better than the essentials course.

The Unity Essentials course shows you the basics of using the Unity editor but you do not make any actual games. There are some small projects where you use physics and gravity to make a ball roll on platforms in the floor is lava project, and then there is a sound project where you have 3D sound on a moving platform and the sound gets softer as it moves away. The final project is a 2D one where you have stuff fall from the screen using 2D physics and bounce off things.

In the game dev tv courses, you make actual mini-games and you can see the projects they build in the course promotion videos which is the best to look at as they update their courses every couple of years.

If you want to use Unity Learn then I would start with the junior programmer path and hope that it is better than the essentials path as the essentials path is a complete waste of time.
