Bug Unity just decided to randomly change my Prefabs and GOs GUID, because why not ...

    2022.3.5f1 is scheduled to be released July 20th

    Hey people!
    I see that Unity 2022.3.5f1 got released on 13 July but I can't see this bug mentioned in the changelog.
    Does anyone have any updates?

    I also couldn't find it in the beginning, but it's supposed to be this line:

    yeah, thank god for version control but even with that in place, this bug caused hours of work and pain for our team

    I'm still experiencing this bug in Unity 2022.3.6f.

    This goes on for thousands of files, breaking the entire project.

    Application.AssetDatabase Initial Refresh Start
    The .meta file Assets/3rdPartySystems/Interactor/Examples/Audio.meta does not have a valid GUID and its corresponding Asset file will be ignored. If this file is not malformed, please add a GUID, or delete the .meta file and it will be recreated correctly
    The .meta file Assets/3rdPartySystems/Interactor/Examples/Audio/911 Call.wav.meta does not have a valid GUID and its corresponding Asset file will be ignored. If this file is not malformed, please add a GUID, or delete the .meta file and it will be recreated correctly

    What you are describing is a different thing and can be safely ignored.

    For mods: Shouldn't this thread be locked now?

    I'm happy if the thread should be locked if that was a different thing.

    However your advice is completely wrong. invalid GUIDs destroys all the connections between the objects in your scene and the changes made in the scene via inspector etc. So if that happens an entire scene can be ruined.

    The warning you're describing, though, is not related here brother. It's been around for years: https://forum.unity.com/threads/how-do-i-fix-this-error.1036969/

    It doesn't effect anything in the project, having used unity for many years myself I can tell you it's fine.

    Those steps didn't fix the errors for me. And resulted in the loss of the project. It needed to be restored from backup. So whatever you are talking about, this wasn't it.

    Edit: It's started happening again. I can't create new scenes without a thousand errors. When I create a standard unity template indoor scene it fails with a massive stack trace.
