Unity interface not available from hub

    I've got unity-hub installed on two laptops, both running LinuxMint 18.3 (64 bit), one can launch the unity interface but the other will not.

    When I click on a project in the hub, it puts up the unity splash screen and shows "starting server", "resolving packages" etc but then the splash screen finishes, the progress boxes disappear then nothing. I can go back in to the hub and try again at which point it gives me the warning "your project was last saved with a different version of unity" and I can click continue but the same thing happens.

    What am I missing?:(
