Unity Hub - Editor Installation failed : An unexpected error occured during installation

This is what i get and when i change the location it says somethiing went wrong.

 

I FINNALY DID IT!!11!! I, basically uninstalled unity hub in task manager and everything then I restarted my pc, then I downloaded the hub (the one for returning users) Than i visited the download archive and following code prod's tutorial I downloaded version of 2019 3.1 (2019.3.1f1). I unchecked every add on except for documentation. Then i added everything else after downloading the original one.

So I just tried setting up the Unity Hub. Would like to share a few pointers:

• Installing the latest version of Unity just kept failing after many attempts (despite restarting Unity Hub, Updating Mac, Reinstalling Xcode, Restarting Mac, selecting some or no modules etc and different combinations), with no errors and just a message “Something went wrong“ (Very helpful Unity!).
  
  
• I tried different versions, not just the latest, Official releases 2018, 2019 and 2020 as well as 2020 LTS (latest), but none would install.
  
  
• Eventually, I manually Installed Visual Studio for Mac first (outside of Unity Hub).
  
  
• Unity Hub was able to detect VS for Mac now and was not suggesting to install it when selecting Modules. But installing latest version would still fail!
  
  
• Only 2018 installed first (finally some progress) but latest would still fail.
  
  
• Eventually, only installing the versions in sequence from oldest to latest worked, i.e first 2018, then 2019, then 2020 official release and then 2020 LTS.
  
  
• I did not select any modules during installation of the Unity versions. So I added Android and iOS Build Support modules only after all versions were installed.
  

 

I found that you can download the file directly if, when trying to download from the hub and you are quick, it gives you a URL when it reports an error. You can grab that url quickly just by pressing F12 and screen-capturing it. By typing that url into a download manager (like IDM) you can download the file directly.

The URL is of form:
https://download.unity3d.com/download_unity/<hashcode>/Windows64EditorInstaller/UnitySetup-2020.<ver>.exe

Substitute the <hashcode> with whatever hex appears in your screenshot, and <ver> with whichever version you want to install.

I assume you could use firefox/chrome/whatever to grab the file directly, I only suggest IDM for download resumption.

 

If u see in the image, there are enogh space to dowload this editor, but, when i press done to dowload it, ti says i do not have space in my computer. And i dont know what to do

 

I'm having the same problem. Also I went to the temp folder where Unity stores installation files (C:\Users\*user*\AppData\Local\Temp\unityhub-*RandomCharacters*) and when I try to open the UnitySetup64-2020.3.2f1.exe file I get this error

NSIS Error
Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media.
Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.

For me it happens if I use mobile internet connection (LTE). After connection loss i have to restart the whole installation :/

 

Delete downloadProgress from the following path and try again. That fixed my issue.
Windows: delete the "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\UnityHub\downloadProgress%3A2018.4.27f1.json" file
Mac: delete the "~/Library/Application Support/UnityHub/downloadProgress%3A2018.4.27f1.json" file

Just crashed into this as well. For me, this feels like a Windows issue. But can't identify what. Hub 2.3.4 working perfectly until yesterday when I went to upgrade to 2019.4.25f1. It then won't update anything with the messages that everyone has posted. Tried everything suggested, but nothing works. The only way back for me (as by now I had no Unity versions on the Windows 10 box) was to use UnityHub to do the download and then manually install.

The laptop next to me still working on Windows Pro with the latest updates on, main dev PC with Windows Home latest updates failing.

Unity Hub downloads everything and sticks what you need in

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\unityhub-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

before it notes the failure

You can run everything from there and then point UnityHub back at it. UnityHub doesn't give you the modules option, but it at least works. It becomes slightly more complex if you want additional modules loaded, but it's workable to get back up and running.

 

I am trying to load Unity3D editor from Unity Hub. It seems to download, then fails to instal. Was there an issue with Apple Silcion?

I have similar problems with Unity 2021.1.10 on Win 10.
To resolve the problem, I cleaned up the Editor folder (Program Files\2021.1.10f1), downloaded the installer from the following archive https://unity3d.com/get-unity/download/archive , installed it, and restarted Unity Hub.

There was a similar issue with Unity 2021.1.9 on Mac. In that case, I downloaded it from the archive, installed it, but there I had to give rights on some folders, and afterward, Unity could work properly.

 

I've also been failing for 3 days now and I too was very excited to start... Hope someone can please help

 

I had to change my path from unity on my c drive and routed it to my secondary drive and it worked. Obviously not everyone has a second drive but thought I'd share.

 

I am using the 3.0 hub and after I finally managed to download the application (2019.4.30f1) but its not installing at all. I am on Windows 10, Is there any settings I need to change to have Windows accept the installation?

I had a problem: On my mac, when I try to download, it said: Editor application: Install failed: Validation failed. How can I fix that?

 

After so many years, one still need to be lucky to install Unity successfully.
EDIT: OK, 2 hours, retried 4 times, finally installed!

 

I always had download failing issues with Unity Hub 2.x and now with v3.0.0 too.

Today I installed 2020.3.26 and 2021.2.8.
Both of these downloads failed at the end, but when hitting retry, it asked for admin password, then installed the editors without problem.

As it seems, Hub still lacks a decent, fault tolerant downloader, after so many years.

This is a shame, because Unity recommends to use the Hub (instead of downloading/installing the editors directly) and its (broken) downloading function is the most used one, so lots of frustrated people arise.

 

Jesus, its been few years and this issue still happens...
I have wasted two work days for installing and dtill trying.
Hub doesnt work, so I manually downloaded from archive. And it forces me to used recommended sdk jdk ndk through hub 'add module'. But editor downloaded from archive doesnot supprt 'add module' function.
I dont understand how this cannot be fixed for several years even if you guys force me to use hub.

 

I'm sure that makes sense to you but I'm a random hobbyist. I don't know what application you're referring too, unity? unityhub? This website? Where/What is this "tray menu icon"? My point being you gave me the answer I need and I don't even know where to start.

How did you restart your computer and install it again because when I do it the download disappears from the hub.

 

In my case I had to run an update on VS 2019 and that fixed that error.

 

I started my computer in safe mode (with networking) and tried installing again from the unity hub, and it worked fine ! I had tried pretty much everything before that.

 

Hi, is there a script for moving objects slower or faster? When I try to move objects, they go too fast. And its harder to place them in the correct place

 

I have the same problem but when install editor. After it download 100% it ask administer permission after I accept that In few seconds it shows as
"Install failed: Installation Failed"

Ive been trying to download the unity editor for over 11 hours now, with every time i get close to fully dowloading ill get the instalation failed message and now im keep on getting "Download failed: Validation Failed" for whenever i try to even start dowloading on of them. if anyone can help me that would be greate.

but if you're making a vr game, then you'll have to install the android sdk and ndk, and i think they'll be hard to install on a D: drive if your C: drive is almost full because you'll have to change up where the files download to and yada yada, so i think that would be a bit hard

 

When I try to install the editor it works until the editor application, then it says Installation failed

 

Still have the same bug, almost for a year now.
You guys changed how the install process is launched back then, and on Win 11 pro, it doesn't seem to bring up / auto fail the UAC dialog.

All other applications and installers from any other company still work.

I tried changing security settings but even with UAC disabled, it's impossible (UAC / user did not grant permission still "fails" according to log - even if Hub runs at elevated privleges)
