Unity Hub ALWAYS open with the latest present version of unity, even if it is not preferred

I have several projects using different versions of unity. - 2017, 2018 etc.

I have three versions of unity installed on my hub. 2017, 2018.6, 2018.8

No matter which project I choose to open, unity always attempts to open it in the latest version - asking to convert if need be.

Even setting the hub's "preferred" version to 2017, unity will STILL attempt to open a 2017 project in 2018.

If I start a new project from hub, with version selected 2017, it still starts unity 2018 - even if I set 2017 as the preferred version.

If I go to my installed version of unity 2017 and attempt to start it, hgub overrides and changes to 2018!

This can't be the right behaviour, surely?

I tried hub abut six months ago and got rid of it for exactly this. The new version is doing the same.

The Hub gives your the opportunity to choose what version of Unity you want to use. You just have to select the right version for your project by clicking on the "..." on the right of the name of your project.
