Unity hangs on "Hold on" all the time

hi i would like some help with unity, i have no idea why it takes so long everytime i save project i get
"hold on - project browser.ongui.mousedown"
for at least 20 minutes and randomy when doing anything i get
"Hold on EditorApplication.ExecuteMenuItem"
for at least 15 mins sometimes upto 1 hour.

driving me insane i can never get any work done on project as constatly waiting for these hold on message boxes to disappear.

i was using unity 2019.3 so i upgraded to 2021.1.16 thinking i would get rid of the issuse but its still the same.

anyone there has his take on why this happens but we have no clear answer yet. I fixed this on my computer by moving the project to an SSD

If you have your projects on a normal HDD then this change may help.
