What kind of scene is it, a modest 100000 objects? :)

I don't know the exact limits when stuff starts slowing down but one thing that has given me freezes even without having too many things are models, some models I have imported has led to freezes if I click on one of the "sub mesh" objects.

I think it only freezes when I click objects in the edit screen. I don't think I've had a freeze by selecting the objects in the hierarchy though.

That sounds familiar...I think it was when I clicked on a mesh in the scene view just like you describe it.

But when I see the video...the whole issue could be from the number of meshes in the scene view rather than one dodgy model.

..if that is the case maybe you have to find a way to break down the level into chunks...separate scenes or have groups that you disable when working on the scene...

I think I'll have to get a baker and bake the meshes together so it's not clogging up everything.

That was my first thought to break into chunks. But the real problem is my draw calls. I have a couple thousands at a time with about 5 million verts at once....

That could become be a pretty big task looking at the video, may the force be with you! =D

Honestly it's just one more thing to add to the list here. I was working on culling for a while and that worked a bit. The farther I move into this, the more strategic my build needs to be as far as performance is concerned.
