    The Unity Free integration for Oculus is now available from the Oculus site. The package gives you access to the same Oculus features as users of Unity Pro. You can use Unity 4.6 and the Oculus integration package to deploy all of your VR content to the Rift.

    Getting started: import the Unity 4 Oculus integration package into Unity, then open up the demo scene and you’re good to go.

    The release supports Windows, Mac, Linux and Gear VR with full access to LibOVR through a pure C# wrapper.

    Features include:
    • High-quality in-editor VR previews

    • Simple direct-to-Rift rendering

    • Lens correction, TimeWarp, and dynamic prediction from LibOVR/VRLib

    • Layered camera support for cockpits, UI, etc

    • Cross-platform support for XInput controllers

    • Consistent IPD and head model for comfort at all world scales

    • Dynamic prediction with the DK2 Latency Tester

    • Utilities for locomotion, Tracker access, and Rift status

    For more detailed instructions, tips and tricks head over here. There is also a Unity section over at the Oculus forums.

    You can find information about Gear VR deployment with the free version of Unity here.

    This is good news, will it manage the updates oculus in the Unity3d? Or will we still need to manage update externally?

    Some people on the forum got the Oculus working in de beta by removing files that reported errors. That's what I read on the forums, but no official Unity support for the Unity 5.x Beta yet.

    For anyone else like me who is experiencing crashes in unity 5 (5.0.0.p3) on pressing play. It appears that having Direct X 11 checked in your player settings causes the crash.

    Apparently 5.1.0 will have integrated VR support (though I have not checked out the 5.1.0 Beta myself yet)

    looking at the end of 'Features' section of the release notes, you will find this;

    Is it also simple to build an apk from a small unity project for the Gear VR and share it with friends because of the Oculus ID? Ask here for a while but mehh! Sorry for my english!
