Lots of duplicates, lots of trash (e.g. functionality that already exists but the poster wasn't aware of it) and hence less popular or just less spectacular, yet very useful features will be lost in the chunk.

And it is also kinda bugged:

I removed all my votes from all the features, but there is still a feature "stuck" on my list.

Don't count on me buying any of your games any time soon or any of your games at all.

That would only matter if I actually intended to sell a game ;)

Ooh, he's got you there, BoredMormon. What are you going to do now, in the face of this dire threat? Obviously you need to re-evaluate your entire life.

It may just be the tipping point. If I don't post again assume I've move to Tibet to become a monk.

Doesn't Microsoft use a similar system? It seems to work rather well, so I don't think the system itself is bad, but rather the lack of resources coupled with the scope and difficulty of the suggestions.

Isn't that on its own enough to recommend against it? ;)

Heya, just coming back after I was only reading the thread.
First off, thanks for all the constructive stuff in here. It's good to hear that Feedback is being worked on and, apparently, will make it possible to request features again in the future.
As for me, it doesn't really matter if the system behind it will be changed.
For example, with the current system, people will get their votes back every now and then as soon as features will be reviewed within a certain amount of time.

Also, don't forget that Unity Feedback is not only supposed to decide which features the team should focus on, but also what to set priorities on. Unity's staff does not have unlimited power, so neither should the users. You only have 10 votes? Well, Unity only has N days to work on something to keep up.
Having 10 votes is not enough for a reason - you need ot prioritize what to vote for. And this step is what you, as a user, take from the Unity people, so they can focus on working on the stuff. Giving people more votes or the ability to downvote, what people seem to want would change every day. Currently, if you put the small amount of votes you have into something, you mean it. Comparing to reddit working fine with another system doesn't work - we're not here for cat pictures.

And one last thing about people abusing the system: People are always able to abuse the system. Whoever spent even a small amount of time with basic lecture on system security knows: It's not about whether or not someone can abuse the system, but about how hard it is.

The one thing that matters to me is that there will be a running system again. How exactly it works is up to the Unity staff - since they're the ones that have to work with the data that comes out of it in the end.

Another thing that could be implemented on the feedback system is: you should receive, if you want, emails telling you that a feature that you voted on changed its current status, when or if that happens, just like thread subscriptions.
