My understanding is that any assets that are part of a Unity Essentials project cannot be used for commercial applications.
But what about for a personal or portfolio application that is not being sold but rather displayed on a personal site or vimeo?

Does the license still apply or is it ok to use textures, scripts etc that are part any Unity Essentials project (from the Asset store)?

Unless otherwise stated all assets from the assetstore are distributed under the assetstore license and under that license you are free to use the assets in your comercial / non comercial unity project.

Which assets are these? As far as I know, all of Unity's Assets on the Asset Store can be used in commercial games since they are covered by the standard Asset Store license.
