    Hello everyone!

Recently I switched from my desktop computer to an old lap top with few capabilities, but it seemed to work for the purpose I need it to. I just swapped its HDD with my SSD containing my unity installation and my projects, it is a Linux Mint 20.4 working perfectly for a long time now. But after sawpping to the laptop the Unity Editor just wont launch anymore, it get stuck at "Initialize Graphics" for a while and then just closes and nothing happens.

I uninstalled my previous NVIDIA drivers, updated the kernel to the newest version, updated intel internal graphics driver too but nothing seems to help, I just cant work on my projects anymore.

Tried reinstalling the Editor but no success.

So, is it possible to run Unity on a integrated graphics chip or do I really need a dedicated GPU for it to work? I checked the Editor logs at Troubleshooting menu, but there is just no "error" log about it, looks like it fails before logging anything about the error.

I have the exact same problem on Windows. I even combed the Registry files and deleted everything i could saying Unity.
It started happening from one day to another and i even got an ENTIRELY new gpu in the mean time and its still persists. Its not an issue with the project because it works on the devices of my team members AND my linux laptop.
Versions before 2021 seem to run...

Did you ever find a solution ?

No solution bro, but by the unity min specs page it states that, for a Linux machine, it must have AMD or NVIDIA graphics card, and the laptop I was trying had an old integrated intel graphics drive. I switched back to my desktop environment to keep developing but no solution on that. Check your hardware against the minimal system specs for Unity.

Well it runs on my Ubuntu Laptop and it doesnt have a dedicated GPU so i can tell you, its not because you need a dedicated GPU, since Unity doesnt start on Windows PC which has an AMD card. Doesnt know if it helps ...

Have you checked the event viewer ? The module at fault for me is "mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll"

Oh I see, but didnt mean to say that you need a dedicated gpu, just what the specs pointed out, a integrated AMD would work, or a dedicated one. Thanks for sharing that any ways, but I dont have the laptop around anymore so I cant investigate further

Btw, I dont remeber on which event I had errors, but I just returned the laptop back to its owner, I was just testing it to see if worth buying.

I have a similar issue on ubuntu, I was wondering if my gpu had anything to do with it? I have an intel gpu.
