Hey guys, I'm still relatively new to Unity and game dev in general. So I could be missing something here.

Basically I was experimenting with the visual scripting tool - cuz I'm too lazy to write actual C# code lol.

The unity editor works perfectly when I don't use any visual scripts, just C# code - both the Scene View and the Game view run very smoothly (120 FPS+ on my high refresh screen) - but as soon as I added the visual scripts, the Editor Scene View gets VERY laggy after 20-30 seconds, sometimes even unresponsive, and I have no idea why.

I tried many different versions of the editor.

    - 2022.2.0b15 I BETA
    - 2021.3.14f1
    - 2021.3.13f1

This is the hardware I'm running on:
    - Macbook Pro 2021 M1 Max
    - 32GB of ram

Do note I am indeed using the Apple Silicon native version of Unity, but that shouldn't be a problem either, it should definitely be faster than the Intel emulation.

I don't think it's a performance issue at all because the scene is VERY simple, it's literally a cube and a platform, and also I do think my laptop is capable of running it.

This is a video clip of me showcasing that.

    Any suggestions I'd really appreciate

Bump. Having the same issue here. I have a large project in which the editor becomes more and more unresponsive. I have to restart it every 20 minutes.

    I'm also on a M1 Max with 64GB Ram.
    Unity latest 2021.3 LTS.

unfortunately for me even a small project doesn't run smoothly, and it happens much more frequently, I almost have to restart every 5mins, it's literally useable, do you also use visual script?

Running into the same issue and I teach my first semester students using visual scripting. Making any updated tutorials is now impossible on my Mac. Did anyone else find any response or relief?

Just wanted to add that it seems completely fixed for me in 2021.3.17. I was still working with 2021.3.8 with students because of lab installs. Thanks and I hope I didn't add to the confusion too much.
