I am using a MacBook Pro 2018 with dedicated graphic card, however while using the Unity editor I can see in my activity monitor that it is not using the dedicated graphic card which is annoying since the FPS in editor is dropping low and the fans are whirring loudly.
I have even checked the option in Unity Preferences > External Tools > Device to Use > to the dedicated graphic card but it still doesn't work.

That screenshot doesn't indicate Unity isn't using the GPU. To me it looks like the scene is fast enough on the GPU but slow on the CPU, which means your CPU is loaded and that's why the fans are spinning up.
