Hello, i'll go straight to the point, i'm an university student on a videogame design career, and currently we're starting to use unity on our programming classes (both to learn C# and how to use the engine). We're not using the university's pc's due to covid so i decided to install unity on my pc.

upon following the class' contents and fiddling around with the program, i've noticed that the editor and the game inside the editor run extremely poorly (around less than 10 fps, even when i change the editor settings to use very low quality.). the amount of slowdown surprises me greatly since i have a very good pc, however, it also scares me since it runs so badly it becomes extremely hard to make sure my code works as intended.

My programming teacher told me to see how much resources unity was using and for me to send him my pc specs, once i did that he told me i should go to r/unity3d and if that didn't work, that i should try the forums, as such, here i am.

My PC Specs are the following:
    >CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor 3.20 GHz
    >GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060 SUPER, 8GB VRAM.
    >RAM: 16 GB DDR3
I have unity installed in a 1tb hardrive.

The scene editor resource usage via task manager:
    >CPU: 10%-12%.
    >RAM: 720-730 MB.
    >GPU: 2.5% - 3%.
    >PowerUsage = Very High
    >Disk: 0MB/s
    >Network: 0MB/s

I've already tried a number of things that where suggested by the users at reddit, i'll leave them here in this spoiler. keep in mind that all of these things haven't improved performance in the slightest.
    1.- Redo project
    2.- Re-install unity (i was using version 2020.1.13f1)
3.- Updated my NVidia GPU drivers.
4.- Clean installation of EVERYTHING (Unity, unity hub and visual studio)
5.- made sure no other proceses are devouring system resources
6.- Tried installing the 2019 LTS version.
7.- defragmented my hard-drive where i have unity.
8.- made EXTREMELY simple scenes with just a cube moving left and right, no change.
    9.- Updated CPU drivers.
10.- Checked if things run slow when unity is running. (Everything runs great. unity still runs badly)
11.- tried going single monitor (i use a dual monitor display.)
12.- Tried to lower the resolution of a single monitor display to potato (800x600)
13..- Tried to see if a built project runs slowly (it runs great, just like any other unity made game)
14.- turned off v-sync for unity using Nvidia control panel

You don't happen to have a solid state drive you can test out do you?

Unity shouldn't be I/O bound and run like a potato on slow storage, but I'd be curious to see if that helps.

Also are you using any plugins or extra editor tools etc.. beyond basic Unity?
