Bug Unity crashes Kubuntu device

I installed Unity on my computer recently, and I tried to make a project. When I made the project my entire computer froze and I had to force shutdown. This happens every time I try to open a project, no matter what template I use. I tried reinstalling the latest version of Unity, but it still didn't work. It doesn't crash in safe mode, but the prompt to go into safe mode only shows up when there's an error. I can't seem to fix this and I don't know how to decipher system logs, so I'm kinda out of luck.
