I deleted a file while working on my project this morning and Unity crashed. I figured I deleted a reference to something that's being used in a scene and I'd just open Unity back up and fix the problem. The only issue is that every time I opened up my project, Unity would crash each and every time.

The only way I was able to fix this was to find the default scene Unity opens and change it. I found it here:
Under the Library directory of your project, there is a

    LastSceneManagerSetup.txt

file. I opened it and it has a path to the scene it will load when you open your project. I changed this and my project now opens. I plan on replacing the missing component so hopefully when I switch back to the other scene, it won't crash. I have my fingers crossed.

I just posted this here in case anyone else has this issue...

Ill say it, since no else wants to, lol.

Back Up Your Project Always!. I have at least 4. If you had a backup, you could laugh, then copy another. We see way too many inspiring dev's that dev a project with their heart and soul (weeks, months, etc.), then something like this happens, and they never thought to back up their project....

Good work around, but wasted time. Hope your all set, best of luck bro :)

Yes, hopefully you have as well. Just trying to help anyone if they come into this problem. If you haven't, move on to the next thread.

Yes, you are right - you should always have a backup. I was in the middle of a lot of code and I didn't want to lose anything. The last resort would have been restoring from backup and spent that same amount of time recoding. I didn't have to do that so I saved a lot more time.
