Here's the first WIP for my entry. Loosely based off the 1888 Flocken Elektrowagen. Lots left to be done.

Unfortunately I can't work that much on the model this week, but the end of march is still far away. :)
Planning on changing a few things after I got some feedback from people who know how cars actually work, so theres enough to do. ;)

@d-3: that looks super awesome, nice silhouettes from all angles. Excited to see this with textures!

    Good work everyone!

Base modeling is coming along nicely. Still have to add quite a bit of the "steampunk" details and refine the details already present. I'm getting really excited about this thing, especially looking forward to texturing it. I foresee all chrome, tarnished brass and burgundy leather.

Added an "alternate" configuration. I think that the first one might be a little too "car" and not enough "cart". Opinions?

Really cool design - it instantly made me think of the original Little Rascals for some reason - don't know why.
Keep in mind the vert/poly count limit - it's going to be interesting to see what elements you keep as geo and what will be put into detail (normal) maps.
    Nice progress.

Nice progress everyone. DannyMac, I really like the design. And raven99, a pizza kart! Can't wait to see this in 3D!

I spent some time adding a few details (steering wheel, wooden boards..) and did some mesh clean up. Next up: uv mapping and normal map baking :) and trying to bring down the polycount a bit more

@Miss_Merlynn Looking great there. I would probably add another loop to the exhaust pipes end. The stick out currently as the only thing not nicely "Rounded".

Hi everybody! this is so nice to have a new contest!!! has been a while since the last one! so here is my first WiP for my entry in this one.
    UCAC_Kart_WIP001.jpg

So far, this is just a concept, my idea is to make an Orc or the hard based Kart. I've called it The Or'Kart ^^
I'm not sure about the skull on the front part, as Yadin have already a similar idea ;-)

Tomorrow I'll start to block out the general shape in ads max.

Good works everybody, there's a lot of great ideas here!!!

Started working on the normals and renamed it. Steampunk plus 19th century technology just, for some reason, screams Cthulhu at me, so I present to you, the WIP NecromoniKart

So many cool ideas, thumbs up to everyone! :)

Today I found some time to work on a few details like tire profiles and re-did the whole suspension.
Next steps would be UV-mapping and then I'll finally throw this thing into Substance and have some fun!

I haven`t modeling at all in a year.. Tried to get motivated to practice 3d little bit every month but still haven`t get into the habit. So why not try to make something again and maybe get kickstarted on learning more Blender..

As a car hobbiest, I definitely wanted to make something hot rod feel from 20`s...
    Here is the sketches!

I went right into sculpting and gonna work on the project I call...

    The Wind Wa-kart!

    wind wa-kart.PNG

Currently I'm working in ZBrush to blockout the basic shape and maybe gonna do a bit of normal mapping or at least bake all the high poly info into a map to do "some stuff" later on.
Will try to go for the similar cel-shaded look of the Wind Waker game. Never did something like this before and hope to learn something new with it :)

Really nice theme again @ThomasPasieka and kudos to the other participants for their entries so far! Hope to see some great projects emerging from this challenge! :D

    Hi everybody,
I'm beginner to 3D-Unity and this contest is perfect for practice. :)

Actually I have just a sketch about my "Noah's kart", I want to make it in lowpoly.
I hope to finish it in the time allowed...

    Hey :D

Also a beginner and why not a contest? :)

@stef_75 really like the scale of that idea! :D very interesting to see that under 20k verts.

Anyway I'm going for something you could call irony of modern society, with a frankly idiotic large front-wheel that obstruct the vision for the driver. A resonable and simple solution would be to have a smaller wheel in front, but no, lets take the detour of complexity to solve it with modern VR tech instead :p I will ad a little camera in the front

Some concept sketches i did. I'm leaning towards either number 1 or number 6 atm but there has been some interest in numbers 3 and 5 too.

I really hate to switch gears half way, but changing the steampunk carriage into a kart really wasn't working for me. I just wasn't feeling it. So, I went back to the drawing board and came up with a new idea. So here's the WIP for the new one, a Fallout inspired "retro-future" hover bike.
