At the moment I am running a closed beta for a VR project I'm been developing in Unity, running on SteamVR and Windows.

I'm getting a fair number of complaints and issues from beta users getting false virus positives from the Unity game files. Plus Windows Defender is killing performance for some people, to the point where it's unplayable.

Needless to say - I've profiled and tested the build across all supported VR setups on my systems, with solid FPS overall and no lags. So it's pretty strange that others are getting these issues.

When I'm developing in the Unity editor I also have to turn off Windows Defender, otherwise it completely kills performance.

Am I the only one experiencing issues like this?
