    Hi,

I am new to the new unity backend services like Authentication, Cloud Save, etc.
After reading the docs I understood, that you need to use the Authentication service to make use of the other services, because the Authentication service creates the playerid and the token which will be used by the other services.

So I guess its not possible to authenticate a user via user credentials like username and pw without relying on one of the provided external platform id providers like Facebook, Steam, Google or Apple?

    Best regards,
    Marco

    Hello,
We do not support it at the moment.
However, this is on our roadmap for this year!

    Hey Erick,
I had a look at the survey but feel I cant give good answers to it because after reading the documentation and knowing that it's not possible to have Authentication working with user credentials I am not going to implement it at the moment.
But I will describe you our use case so you get an impression what's the problem:

    * We are working on a kind of fitness app in a virtual world which uses real training devices. One of the main use cases is that several people use the same computer, because it is connected to a stationary trainer like at home or in a fitness center, gym, etc. So customers don't want to login with their private accounts like their facebook accounts on these devices. Further more access to these computers will be limited and we can login people with their credentials which they got from the gym for example. Anonymous authentication doesn't work here, because the progress of everyone needs to be tracked and they want to continue where the finished last time.

If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask me!

    Thank for your time,
    Marco

Interesting project! It's probably best to provide that feedback in the mentioned survey, especially if a feature you require is not yet available. There is a field to enter freeform text exactly for that.
