Yeah unity always said its not exclusive, they dont even even have any benefits for keeping it exclusively on there store. I think its good news for us asset store developers, because they might try to "fight" over keeping or getting new store exclusives, or maybe not. If you can easily port it another platform why wouldnt you -- incase one of the engines beats out the other one, it would be kind of silly to "a unity fanboy" when there really is no benefit for doing it all you are doing is hurting your own sales, it seems better to be engine agnostic if possible

Personally i dont know if porting my assets would even be worth it considering i would have to make a complete project and learn how to use unreal4 to do it. Though I guess why not later on

I agree I was just saying what was going on :)

On this front it is currently a weapon for unity and UE4 is trying to narrow the gap.

I am teaching unity today and thursday ue4 and I feel the kids leave with a far better understanding of unity than ue4 at the end of the day.

I think you are spot on with your assessment. I guess we all see it differently, but my experience with gaming forums and game development forums is that the Unity Asset store is usually a big selling point on why Unity is sometimes recommended, especially for hobbiests. There are a ton of free assets in the store, along with very reasonably priced assets ( like the OPs stuff).. and most of it is already prefabbed, so it is basically plug-n-play which is great for newbies.

I am not going to post links to another game engines forums, but I recently saw an ´ad´ where a game developer was actually offering to PAY someone just to export content they already had into their gameworld. For that level of newbiness, drag-drop and prefabs are a major bonus of Unity.

Now the question is... does the Unity Asset Store actually increase sales of the Pro versions of Unity... or does it just bring in the weekend warriors who use the free version for years and who really need the ease of prefabs

The question I would have for the OP would be how much work would it take you to make your assets as easy to use in UE as they are in Unity. I mean in Unity, I can literally buy one of your creatures and have it plugged into my game as a ´fighting´ creature in about 15 minutes.

Hero Engine has tried on a few occasions to get the ball rolling, but their engine is really only for MMORPGs, which is a small market of developers and it is pretty newbie-unfriendly because of the client-server processes required of a MMORPG.

And well, most of us that do use Hero Engine already use Unity and the Unity Store at the same time during development.

I am not sure if the Unreal Store will change anything about Unity. There is so much in the Unity store that cannot easily be ported over to Unreal and most of the stuff that can easily be ported is already on 3-5 different websites anyway.

Not MMORPG part is Hero Engine problem. It's the way how they made client/server implementation with their scripts. Hero is the perfect example of an engine looking nice on paper, in reality...
