So I went to post a question on Unity answers, typed it all up.

At the bottom where the Tags go it says " Suggested Tags: Click the tags below to add them to your question."
However there are no suggested tags....
I try to enter my own tags and it wont let me and i get the following error.
"The following topics are not present in the system, and you don't have permissions to create new ones:"
You have to enter at least 1 tag.
This obviously is preventing me from asking my question...
Is something broken? Am I missing something super obvious?

    Well that is no good.....

Where should I ask questions then about a problem i cant figure out in my game that isnt a problem with unity but just my inability to think of a solution? in the unity community support area? Im not sure which section it would even go in then... closest to being on topic would be physics I guess but just because it is dealing with colliders.... so idk.

Google. I'm a veteran of answers, and its almost impossible to ask a question that hasn't already been answered.

Alternatively you could change browsers. UA is reasonably buggy, and some users report better performance on different browsers.

Hi! I have been changing Unity Answers in various ways, and we unfortunately have waaaay too many tags that are not really helpful, so I'm also doing clean up. The goal is to make it easier for users and unity staff to find topics within their expertise.

Tags are case sensitive, which means that if you for example want to tag your question with "OnGUI" you have to use the already created tag "ongui" which is suggested in a dropdown list when you start typing the "o". I will add this info to our FAQ, and I realise this is a usability fix that needs to be implemented (and is being looked at, it's requiring quite a bit of digging in the database atm.)

This is our list of current tags (and this is after a major deletion of tags...): http://answers.unity3d.com/topics.html

when I type a question , the suggested tags is empty, as well, but when I start to type in something a drop down menu appears of suggestions and I click on one or more of those

As far as tags in Unity Answer go, they don't matter now. Pick one since it forces you to, but don't worry too much about getting the exact correct tag(s).

5 years ago, when this thread started, some moderators on Unity Answers were really excited about getting all questions properly tagged and getting rid of vague or duplicate tags. Unlike Forums, UA has one area for everything. The tags could be a way to make "rooms" -- like searching for all "legacyGUI" tags -- if we could organize them properly. But those moderators are long gone, and UA is pretty much unmoderated now. I'm not sure anyone ever got tags to work well, and no one is doing it now. Even that Unity Rep is long gone. And UA now also allows the kind of sloppy questions (in the Help Room area) where you wouldn't even know what tag to use (there's no "whereDoIEvenBegin?" tag).
