Im trying out Unity analytics. So far so great, and as a side note the Dashboard and the step by step integration tutorial is really well done.

Will apple accept apps using Unity analytics?

Do we need to have a privacy policy or anything additional?

    Hi @protopop,

Thanks for trying us out, we're pleased that you like the dashboard and integration flow! Hint: Integration will get even easier once we're fully baked into the engine.

Yes, we do have many live apps on the App Store - we do not collect IDFAs but you should make sure other SDKs don't if you're not serving ads.

Regarding whether you need a privacy policy, this depends on what your app does and where you are launching it because some countries may have different privacy restrictions. This is a good article that could help you understand whether you need one or not. I also recommend that you consult the Privacy section in the App Store Review guidelines.

EDIT: Our Terms and Conditions also require developers to have a privacy policy on their website that is accessible to end users. Please look at the privacy section on the T&C for more details.

    Cheers!

    Thanks Elie:)

The link is helpful. "If you collect any of this data, you need a privacy policy." so I'm going to go with a privacy policy since Unity Analytics collects information.

I don't really understand what this means. What are IDFAs? I am serving ads using Unity Ads

IDFA stands for Identifier for Advertisers, it's a universal ID that advertisers and ad networks use to serve ads to your users. Apple has introduced the IDFA as a replacement for the UDID (Unique Device ID) which was a fixed that end users could not change or hide. With the IDFA, end users have the ability to reset the identifier and limit ad tracking, pretty much like cookies on the web.

If you are serving ads, then it is natural and allowable for your app to use the IDFA. Apple just wants to make sure that developers and ad networks are not using the IDFA for other purposes than serving ads. Just make sure that when you submit, you confirm that your app is using the IDFA to serve ads when asked.

Oh wow, that's super important and exactly the kind of 'extra steps' i wondered if i need to take. I remember Apple asking that when i submit my apps and now I know what it means. Thank you.
