I noticed when I updated my iOS version (latest) that not only my own published game but also others were displaying the Unity cookie collection permission pop-up more frequently that previous.

Initially, I assumed that updates were needed to conform to operating system changes, so I updated my Unity version to the LTS 2019.4.18f (latest) bumping from the prior latest 2018 version. I also updated all the package manager items. This didn't seem to solve the issue and my testing so far shows that if I accept the cookie collection, it will not be displayed again for that session. However, as soon as I quit and restart the game, the pop-up appears again. I've tested other games too and the same behaviour is reproduced.

    Is this new behaviour correct?

Hey @QIXE this is a known issue with some devices running iOS14 in some versions of the Ads SDK. If you have personalized ads disabled it's possible that the SDK can't track your response to the cookie collection popup.

The SDK is supposed to not show the popup at all if it can't track your response, but we have had some reports similar to yours where it shows every session. Our engineering team are working on identifying the exact circumstances and deploying a fix. In the meantime, make sure your app is running the latest version of the Ads SDK.

Thanks for the info @kyle-unity. I've tried both personalised and non-personalised ad settings when the pop-up appears. I don't believe there is a behavioural difference between each option after updating to iOS14.

The Ads SDK version I'm using is Advertisement 3.5.2, installed from the Package Manager.

Are you aware of an ETA for the fix? I'm itching to get a release out :)

I believe the fix is scheduled for sometime before the end of Q1. If you have access to another iOS 14 device it's definitely worth checking to see if it happens there too as so far we have only seen this on a minority of devices (for instance I have an iPhone X and iPad here that haven't been able to reproduce this!)

It would be worth updating to 3.6.0 from the package manager as well if you can (I don't think this version is officially verified by the editor yet so it might be hidden by default -- check the full version history)

I've upgraded Advertisements to v3.6.1 (non-verified version) using the package manager and I can confirm this does not solve the issue on my iPhone X test device. I do have other devices to test with but they are not on iOS 14 and do not replicate the issue.

If I were to guess, I'd say the issue is caused by project migrations from many Unity version upgrades. I can submit a build of my project for analysis if that helps.

Hi, I've tested two other iOS 14 devices and all replicate the issue described above. I've decided to push out a store update since I'm no worse off & plan to release again soon.

Thanks for the info @kyle-unity, I'll look out for the fix at the end of Q1! ;)

sorry to necro, but was this ever resolved? my app was just rejected for what looks like the same reason. it appears as though my app is asking for permission even if ATT was declined
