    Hello,

this is a more or less direct question to the Unity Devs and QA:

Now that U5 has been released, what are your plans for patch releases? Will U5 see the same weekly patch releases as U4?

Currently the patch releases page does not state any 5.0 patches...

I too am waiting for a 5 patch release, to fix some of the bugs I've submitted.

Having reported a bug and been informed it will be released in the next Unity 5 patch, I would say yes there will be patches. But I don't see one available yet.

I find it less stressful just to assume that the bug will be there forever and try to find ways to work round it.
The only "bug" I really care about is the "Personal Edition" bug. But enough said about that! :p

If you look at the beta forum you can see a lot of people reported lots of stuff all the time. It's just that the release was set to happen at gdc no matter what issues there were left at seems this was the plan for last months of beta.

The patch schedule of 5.0.x is expected to be weekly, just like 4.6.x for the time being.
The first patch release is in progress and should land soon.

Great to hear that, IMHO the currently Unity 5 release is very unstable. Maybe is caused by the assets I'm using, although all are unity5 compatible, but I'm spending all the hours trying to get a stable environment without success. Hope unity5 and the rest of assets will be gracefully upgrading towards stability.

The ill-informed rubbish spoken about beta testers in this thread makes me sad.

Well I've deleted the trolls. Attacking beta testers (whom have no control over if something is actually fixed or not) isn't allowed. Nor are any attacks on unity staff if anyone is wondering.

Was not a attack, just bit curious to know abit more about them? are they present on the forums.
Did they test mobile devices - because I do not feel mobile is tested well enough at all in Unity 5.

    Not up for debate.

Report bugs as you get them please. Leave the rest to Unity.

Like I said earlier go look at the beta test forum. It's visible for everyone. Plenty of people did mobile testing but there was a lot of issues with IL2CPP, lightmapping and other stuff which made it hard and time consuming to test anything properly and each beta broke something that worked before.

This is public beta, I'm talking about the internal beta testers..before the beta became public. There was 18 or so betas before..

Anyway whatever not going to argue with anyone, just bad taste..

The only beta builds I saw were the public betas available to Unity Pro users, so I cannot comment on the internal beta testing done prior to that. I will say that the betas (and even the release candidates) seemed pretty buggy when I used them. Lightmap baking took forever, even on very fast systems. It got slightly better with each release, though. Even with access to the beta builds, I did not move my main project over to Unity Pro 5 until after Unity 5.0 was released during GDC.

Honestly, I think GDC was the primary concern when choosing a release date, but I don't think that is all bad. Personally, I would rather see companies quickly release buggy betas, get broad feedback, and then rapidly make improvements. That tends to work better than small closed beta releases. The weekly patch releases are definitely a solid step in the right direction. I am excited to see what bugs Unity decided to address first.

The patch will be out next week, we've had a few issues with a change in infrastructure for 5 but it's getting sorted. I was told Monday should be the day.
