    Hi!
I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I've been checking my programs to see which ones are working. When I try to open Unity, this shows up (see photo below).
I saw one thread with the same problem as mine but I can't seem to follow the solution people have provided. They seem to read something from the crash dump and they find out what's wrong. Unfortunately for me, I don't understand how to read those dumps. Can someone tell me how to read those and to determine the cause of the crash? Or if it's not that easy to explain can someone determine the cause for me?

The most common problem on Windows 10 seems to be Lavasoft software. Check your system and uninstall anything Lavasoft related (WebHelper I think it's called?) then, search your System32 folder for any "Lava" related .dll's and delete anything it finds (easier said than done. I had to unload, change permissions, rename then change extension before it would let me delete it). This fixed the issue for me :)
Unity 5 is still VERY buggy on Windows 10 though, I'm having plenty of other problems.

Yes, i just ran into that problem, on windows 8.1. It is most likely AdWare running.

    you could download AdwCleaner.
You cannot delete the 3rd party software yourself, because the .dlls are locked down from being messed with when the OS boots.

i wish unity would expect these issues to arrive, because it is going to happen more and more.
Most people, like me, are not even aware that theese AdWare programs are pre-loaded on your computer.

Thanks but I don't have Lavasoft installed . I checked all my folders already. It seems it isn't the problem. But thank you!

yeah you probably had adware such as lavasoft, openCandy, ad-aware. I dont know much about it but mine was pre-bundled with my HP computer. I dont really know what they do, but it affects programs which act like web-browsers, like what unity does when you first start it. Unity editor has a log-in screen similar to what you would see in a web browser when you first start unity.

You can read about a unity employee explaining it in further detail:
